Ekaterina is friendly and encouraging and her lessons always feel lively and personal. She brings in real-life examples and cultural context that make learning the language much more interesting! I really enjoy how she mixes conversation practice with grammar and uses different resources like online quizzes, short texts, and discussions. I always come away feeling like I’ve learned something useful! :)

Elina K
Elina's lessons have been very helpful to me for multiple reasons. She's helped me a lot with improving my vocabulary, speaking confidence, and grammar. We've focused equally on all of these things and this has me progressing evenly in all areas.
Elina is very friendly and easy-going. This creates a positive environment where it's easy to learn. She's also a native Russian speaker, and so her understanding of Russian is obviously very advanced. Her English is great too, which makes things easier for a native English speaker like me, as she can translate Russian into English easily.

Brilliant Russian tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child is hoping to apply to UCL or LSE. Can a tutor help them use their Russian A-Level to strengthen their application?
Absolutely. Our tutors, many of whom are university-level academics, can help your child not only achieve a top A-Level grade but also articulate its value in their personal statement. They can help frame their bilingualism as a key academic strength, which is highly valued by competitive universities.
We live in Newham, and it's hard to find specialist Russian tutors locally. How does online tutoring help?
Online tutoring removes geographical barriers completely. Your child can connect with the very best Russian tutors from across the UK, not just those in your immediate area. This gives you access to a much wider pool of specialists, including those with specific experience in the GCSE and A-Level exam boards.
How do I choose the right Russian tutor for my child?
You can view detailed tutor profiles, watch their introductory videos, and read reviews from other parents. We recommend shortlisting a few and sending them a message to discuss your child's specific needs—like turning conversational skills into exam success—before booking. It's all about finding the right personality match for your child.
What if my child doesn't click with their first tutor?
We know how important the right fit is. That's why we have our First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your first tutor for any reason, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How much does online Russian tutoring cost?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and level of study. Tutors set their own rates, which are clearly displayed on their profiles, so you can find an experienced tutor that fits your family's budget. There are no hidden fees or contracts.
How do I know the tutors are safe and qualified?
Your child's safety is our top priority. Every tutor is background-checked and has their ID verified. We also have a rigorous selection process and only accept 1 in 8 tutors who apply, so you can be sure your child is learning from a trusted and capable expert.
How can a tutor build my child's confidence with Russian grammar?
Our tutors are experts at making complex topics feel simple. In a one-to-one setting, they can patiently break down tricky grammar rules, use targeted exercises, and provide instant feedback in a supportive way. This personalised attention helps your child build confidence and truly understand the structure of the language.
What happens in a typical online Russian lesson?
Lessons take place in our online classroom, which features a video chat and an interactive whiteboard. A tutor might use the whiteboard to break down verb conjugations, share past exam papers to work through together, or analyse a piece of Russian text. Every lesson is tailored to your child's goals.
Are the tutors familiar with the AQA and Edexcel exam boards for Russian?
Yes, many of our tutors have specific experience with the main UK exam boards for GCSE and A-Level Russian. You can see this information on their profiles and can message them before booking to confirm they are a good match for your child's curriculum.
How long are the tutoring sessions and how often should they be?
Sessions are typically one hour long. Most families find that a regular weekly session is most effective for steady progress, especially in the run-up to exams, but the frequency is completely up to you and can be arranged directly with your tutor.
How quickly can my child start lessons?
You can get started very quickly. Once you find a tutor you like, you can send them a message to arrange your first lesson. Many tutors are able to start within a few days, offering flexible support when your child needs it most.
How can a tutor build my child's confidence with Russian grammar?
While we offer fantastic support for academic subjects from Primary to degree level, we also have tutors for a huge range of other skills! Your child can learn anything from playing the guitar and coding in Python to new languages and public speaking.
