Experienced GCSE English tutor and enthusiast in English
Hi there, my name is Krishni! I am a Law and Sociology graduate from the University of Warwick, and now I am doing my legal masters. From all the trial and errors I have undergone, my mission is to transform grades and confidence.I had struggled throughout school in terms of focus and struggling with the ‘one-size-fits all’ approach school teachers left me with. I would constantly get reprimanded and disheartened with my grades. After many MANY trial and errors, I finally figured out how to personalise and tailor the curriculum to ME and saw results almost straight away. This tailoring method is ...

Adora P
English English, Science, Phonics, SATs
Hi! I’m a fully qualified UK primary teacher with over five years of classroom experience, and I now specialise in 1:1 tutoring for children aged 5–11. I’ve taught every year group from Reception to Year 6 and have helped many children grow in confidence — especially in phonics, maths, reading and SATs preparation.I started tutoring because I’ve seen first-hand how personalised support can unlock a child’s potential. I remember one Year 3 pupil who struggled with writing; by breaking tasks into small steps, using visuals and positive reinforcement, she went from reluctant writer to story-lovin...
Ben is an amazing tutor, he’s really got my step son who has Asperger’s to engage, lessons are planned and structured, post lesson feedback given which really helps as I can send it over to his mom after his lesson and know what he needs to revise. Definitely a worthwhile investment in my step sons future!

Holly E
Holly has been tutoring my son in English GCSE for the last half term. He has found the lessons very useful, working in a logical order through the different aspects of the curriculum. Holly is friendly, approachable and encouraging.
My Son has just had his mock exam results and has moved from just hitting an exam grade boundary to being 2 points off the next grade up. We are very pleased at his progress in a short space of time.

Mamun A
My son is really improving since starting lessons with Mamun. From the start of the lesson getting almost all questions wrong to by the end completely understanding it all. Tested him a few days later and he got almost every question right without any help at all he remembered all the punctuation in all questions, shocked how much he's improved from just one lesson on it! Mamun's teaching is brilliant and it really seems to stick in my sons head. Also my son is very fussy with his ASD/ADHD and is often open about his feelings towards people, especially new people most often than not he will say he doesn't like this person because of this or that, but he said he likes his tutor and wants to do more lessons which is brilliant. Mamun is always on time, very patient and explains thoroughly, he gives brilliant feedback afterwards too. Highly recommend this tutor and I'm glad I chose him rather than someone else.

Brilliant English tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child wants to apply to a competitive sixth form in East London. Can a tutor help with this?
Absolutely. Many of our English tutors have experience helping students secure places at their first-choice schools and colleges. They can focus on strengthening the specific skills and exam techniques needed to achieve the high GCSE grades that these institutions look for.
We're aiming for a Russell Group university like Queen Mary or UCL. How can an English tutor support this goal?
A top grade in A-Level English is often a key requirement. A tutor can provide advanced support, helping your child develop the sophisticated analytical and essay-writing skills expected by top universities. They can also offer guidance on personal statements, making their application stand out.
What if my child doesn't click with their first tutor?
We understand that finding the right personality match is crucial. That's why we have our First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor for any reason, just email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
Do you only offer tutoring for school subjects like English?
Not at all! While we have experts for core subjects from the 11+ to A-Levels, we also offer tutors for a huge range of other skills. Whether your child wants to learn to play the guitar, get started with coding, or even learn a new language for fun, we can help.
How much does an online English tutor cost?
Our tutors set their own hourly rates, which typically range from £20 to £50, depending on their experience and level of expertise. You can see each tutor's price on their profile, so you can find someone brilliant who fits your budget.
There are so many tutors! How do I choose the right one for my child?
You can filter tutors by their experience, price, and availability. We recommend reading their profiles and reviews from other parents – we have over 4,100+ reviews giving us an average rating of 4.6 stars. You can also message tutors before booking to ask about their approach and ensure they're a good fit.
My child's confidence in English is low. Can a tutor help with that?
Yes, this is one of the biggest benefits of one-to-one tutoring. In a safe, supportive environment, your child can ask questions they might be afraid to ask in class. Tutors are brilliant at breaking down difficult concepts and celebrating small wins, which makes a huge difference to a child's self-belief.
How do online lessons work?
Our online classroom has everything your child needs for a great lesson. There's a shared whiteboard for working through problems together, video chat for face-to-face interaction, and a tool for sharing documents like essays or past papers. It's simple, secure, and effective.
How do you check your tutors are safe and qualified?
Your child's safety is our top priority. We interview every tutor and verify their ID and qualifications. All tutors must also have a valid DBS background check. We're very selective – we only accept 1 in every 8 tutors who apply to our platform.
How often should my child have a lesson?
Most families find that one session a week works best, as it provides consistency without being overwhelming. However, it's completely flexible. You might want to increase the frequency in the run-up to an important exam, or have lessons less often. You can discuss what's right for your child with your tutor.
What does my child need to prepare for their first lesson?
Nothing specific! The first session is usually a chance for the tutor to get to know your child, understand their goals, and identify any areas they find tricky. It's helpful if your child can talk about what they're currently studying in school, but the tutor will guide the conversation.
How do I know tutoring with Tutorful gets results?
We're proud to have helped over 200,000 students achieve their goals. 90% of our students improve by at least one grade, and for GCSEs, we can help boost results by up to two grades. The best proof is in the feedback from parents just like you, which you can read on our tutors' profiles.
