I have recently started taking piano lessons from Ian to prepare for grade 8 ABRSM exam. I have been practicing with him a difficult Mozart piece and he has been very helpful in providing feedback on the playing and guidance on how to improve technical elements of the piece, as well as giving some great ideas of how the piece can be performed. He comes across as friendly, open minded and very competent, suggesting possible ‘big picture’ performance considerations as well as some detailed advice on how to improve certain dynamics to bring out the best of the piece.
