Amy W
Amy W is very concise and extremely helpful when getting complicated information wrapped around your head. She is super friendly and easy to talk to, which makes sessions comfortable and stress-free. The only hiccup is the wifi choosing to bug out, now and then. But, otherwise, Amy gives a very excellent tutoring experience.

Brilliant Psychology tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child is aiming for a competitive Psychology course at the University of Surrey. Can a tutor help with that specific goal?
Absolutely. Many of our tutors are experienced in helping students aiming for top Russell Group universities. They can focus on developing the analytical and essay-writing skills needed to produce an A* grade performance, helping your child's application stand out in a competitive field like the one at Surrey.
With the high standards at schools like RGS and Guildford High, how does online tutoring provide an extra edge?
In a high-achieving environment, tutoring provides a confidential space to address specific weaknesses without classroom pressure. A tutor can offer a different perspective or teaching style that makes a topic click. For students in Guildford, accessing a specialist from anywhere in the UK online means they can find someone who can truly challenge and stretch their understanding beyond the A-grade syllabus, targeting those crucial A* marks.
Is online tutoring as effective as meeting a tutor in person?
Yes, and for many families, it's even better. Our online classroom has interactive tools like a shared whiteboard which makes learning collaborative and engaging. The biggest advantage is choice: your child in Guildford can connect with the perfect tutor from anywhere in the UK, rather than being limited to who lives nearby. Plus, no travel time means it fits easily into busy schedules.
What if my child doesn't click with the first Psychology tutor we try?
Finding the right personality match is crucial, and we want you to be completely happy. That's why we have our first lesson guarantee. If it's not the right fit for any reason, just email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk, and we will cover the cost of your first session with a new tutor.
My child is interested in Psychology, but what if they need help with their Maths or Biology A-Level too?
We can definitely help. We offer expert online tutors across more than 300 subjects, from core GCSE and A-Level topics like Maths, Biology, and Chemistry to university-level support and even practical skills like coding or learning a musical instrument. You can find the right specialist for every one of your child's needs on our platform.
How much do online Psychology tutors for Guildford students cost?
Our tutors set their own hourly rates, typically starting from £20 per hour. The price varies based on the tutor's experience and level of study (e.g., A-Level vs. degree level). You can filter by price on our website to find a brilliant tutor who fits your budget.
How are your tutors vetted?
We take safety and quality very seriously. We interview every tutor, and they must have a valid DBS check. We also verify their ID and qualifications. We're selective, accepting only 1 in 8 applicants, so you can be sure you're choosing from the UK's best.
My child lacks confidence in writing evaluative essays. Can a tutor help with that specific skill?
Yes, this is a perfect use for a tutor. They can work specifically on essay structure, critical thinking, and how to build a compelling argument using evidence. They can break down model answers and provide targeted feedback to help your child write with clarity and confidence.
How long are the tutoring sessions and how often should they be?
Most sessions are one hour long, which is usually ideal for maintaining focus. The frequency is completely up to you. Many students have one session a week, but you might want more in the run-up to exams or less frequent check-ins earlier in the year. It's totally flexible to your child's needs.
What technology do we need for an online lesson?
It's very simple. All your child needs is a computer or tablet with a webcam, a microphone, and a stable internet connection. Our online classroom runs directly in your web browser, so there's no complicated software to install.
Can we find a tutor who has studied Psychology at a top university themselves?
Yes, absolutely. You can view detailed profiles for each tutor, which include their educational background, qualifications, and teaching experience. Many of our tutors are graduates from or are currently studying at leading universities, and they can be fantastic role models.
How are your tutors vetted?
Not at all. Whilst we absolutely help students who are finding things tough, many use Tutorful to push themselves from good to great. Tutoring is fantastic for high-achievers who want to deepen their understanding, explore topics beyond the syllabus, and gain the competitive edge needed for top grades.
