Roxy has been an absolutely wonderful tutor. She is warm, very engaging, and clearly highly competent. Our son genuinely loved his lessons with her and always looked forward to them, which says a lot. We could see his confidence grow, and his writing abilities improved noticeably over a short period of time. Roxy has a fantastic way of connecting with children while still challenging them and helping them make real progress. We are incredibly grateful for her support and would highly recommend her to any parent.

Ifa M
Life changing experience!
I would like to express my appreciation for Ifa’s exceptional teaching skills in helping my son learn English. Ifa brings a wonderful combination of fun, knowledge, and experience to every lesson, making the learning process both enjoyable and highly effective. She engages with my son attentively throughout the entire session, ensuring that he remains focused and motivated without even realising how much he’s learning.
What truly stands out is Ifa’s ability to explain complex concepts in a way that my son immediately grasps. No other teacher has been able to reach him as clearly as Ifa has, and I was genuinely impressed by how quickly he picked up many ideas he had previously struggled with.
Not only has my son made tremendous progress, but I’ve also learned from Ifa. She has shown me the best ways to support my son’s learning journey, tailored specifically to his individual needs. Her guidance has been invaluable, and I’m grateful for the positive impact she’s had on both of us.
Thank you, Ifa!

How can a writing tutor support my child's progress at local schools like The Hemel Hempstead School?
A writing tutor can provide targeted support to help your child excel in English and other subjects at schools like The Hemel Hempstead School. They can work on improving essay writing for various subjects, develop critical analysis skills, strengthen grammar and punctuation, and boost overall confidence in written communication, which can help your child aim for top sets.
Is writing tutoring only for academic subjects, or can it help with other skills?
While we excel in academic support for subjects like English, our writing tutors can also help with a broader range of skills. This includes creative writing for personal enjoyment, developing storytelling abilities, or even improving communication for older students looking to write compelling personal statements or professional documents.
What if my child doesn't get along with their first writing tutor?
We want you and your child to find the perfect match. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How do I choose the right online writing tutor for my child?
You can browse our tutors' profiles, read reviews from other parents, and even chat with them for free before booking a lesson. Consider their experience, specialisms (e.g., 11+, GCSE, creative writing), and teaching style to find the best fit for your child's needs and personality.
How much does online writing tutoring typically cost?
The cost of online writing tutoring varies depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications. You'll find a range of prices on our platform, allowing you to choose a tutor that fits your budget. There are no hidden fees, and you only pay for the lessons your child takes.
How does online tutoring actually work?
Our online lessons take place in an interactive virtual classroom. It features a whiteboard, document sharing, and video chat, allowing your child and their tutor to collaborate in real-time. All lessons are recorded, so your child can revisit them anytime for revision.
Will my child's writing tutor focus on specific areas like grammar or creative writing?
Yes, absolutely. Our tutors tailor each session to your child's individual needs. Whether they need to improve foundational grammar, develop compelling narratives, master essay structure, or refine their analytical writing, the tutor will create a personalised learning plan just for them.
How quickly can I expect to see improvements in my child's writing?
While every child learns at their own pace, consistent one-to-one support often leads to noticeable improvements quite quickly. Many parents report increased confidence and better grades after just a few sessions, especially when focusing on specific areas like essay planning or exam technique.
Are your writing tutors qualified and safe?
Yes, your child's safety and learning are our top priorities. We have a rigorous vetting process, accepting only 1 in 8 tutor applicants, and conduct thorough background checks on every tutor. You can feel reassured knowing your child is learning with a qualified and trusted professional.
Can online writing tutoring help my child build confidence?
Confidence is a huge benefit of one-to-one tutoring. With personalised attention, encouragement, and a safe space to ask questions, your child will feel more comfortable expressing themselves in writing. This boost in confidence often translates into better performance in school and a more positive attitude towards learning.
How does online tutoring actually work?
