My favourite components of AQA psychology to teach have to be social influence, psychopathology, the theoretical approaches and forensic psychology. In terms of sociology; research methods and crime and deviance. Amy W
Amy W is very concise and extremely helpful when getting complicated information wrapped around your head. She is super friendly and easy to talk to, which makes sessions comfortable and stress-free. The only hiccup is the wifi choosing to bug out, now and then. But, otherwise, Amy gives a very excellent tutoring experience.

Brilliant Psychology tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child is at a great school in County Durham but we're worried about the step up to Durham University. Can a tutor help?
Absolutely. This is a common concern, and it's exactly where a tutor can make a huge difference. They can work with your child on the specific skills needed for university-level study – like critical analysis, academic writing, and independent research – building their confidence so they arrive on day one feeling prepared and capable, not intimidated.
Does it matter that the tutors aren't physically based in County Durham?
Not at all – in fact, it's a huge advantage. Because our tutoring is online, your child isn't limited to tutors who live nearby. They can connect with specialists from across the UK, including postgraduates from top universities who have recent, first-hand experience of exactly what your child is aiming for.
How can online tutoring help my child feel ready for the self-directed study required at university?
One-to-one online tutoring is fantastic preparation for university. A tutor acts as a guide, encouraging your child to explore topics independently, question sources, and manage their own learning goals between sessions. It helps them build the organisational and intellectual habits they'll need to thrive.
What happens if my child doesn't click with their first Psychology tutor?
Finding the right fit is everything, and we want you both to feel comfortable. If the first session with a tutor isn't quite right, just email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover the cost of your first lesson with a new tutor.
What qualifications do your Psychology tutors have?
We have a wide range of highly qualified tutors, and you can view each one's full profile. Many of our Psychology tutors are studying the subject at Master's or PhD level at top UK universities, or are qualified teachers with years of experience. We're very selective, accepting only 1 in 8 tutors who apply.
Is online tutoring as effective as in-person for a subject like Psychology?
Yes, and often more so. Our online classroom has interactive whiteboards, document sharing, and other tools perfect for mapping out theories and analysing case studies. Plus, the convenience means lessons can be more frequent and consistent, which is key to building momentum and confidence.
Can a tutor help with specific parts of the A-Level Psychology course, like research methods?
Definitely. Many students find the research methods and statistics components of Psychology challenging. You can find a tutor who specialises in this area to provide targeted support, working through examples until your child feels completely confident.
Beyond Psychology, do you offer support for university applications or personal statements?
Yes, many of our tutors offer support with university applications, including personal statement advice and interview practice. It’s a great way to get guidance from someone who has successfully gone through the process themselves. You can check individual tutor profiles for details.
How much does online Psychology tutoring for a student in County Durham cost?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications. Tutors set their own hourly rates, and you can easily filter by price on our website to find an expert tutor who fits your family's budget. There are no hidden fees or contracts.
How flexible is scheduling around my child's other commitments?
Extremely flexible. You can see each tutor's availability on their profile and request slots that fit around school, sports, and family life. Online tutoring removes travel time, making it much easier to fit valuable learning into a busy week.
What do we need to get started with online lessons?
It's simple. All your child needs is a laptop or computer, a stable internet connection, and a webcam with a microphone. Our online classroom is browser-based, so there's no complicated software to install.
Can a tutor help with specific parts of the A-Level Psychology course, like research methods?
Payments are handled securely and simply through the Tutorful platform. You add your card details to your account, and payment is taken automatically 24 hours after each lesson is completed. It's straightforward and secure.
