Hi, I’m a Master’s graduate in Biomedical Science from the University of Glasgow, and I’m passionate about helping students achieve their academic goals in a way that’s both fun and effective.Growing up, I found school challenging—balancing coursework with extracurricular activities made it difficult to maintain high grades. However, once I reached university, I developed better study strategies that helped me excel and achieve top marks. This experience has shaped my approach to tutoring: I focus on understanding concepts, not just memorizing theory. I believe that when students grasp the why b...

Jack R
We’ve had a fantastic experience with Jack as a maths tutor - so far my daughter had three sessions with him. Jack is an excellent communicator and explains concepts clearly and step-by-step, making even the all topics feel manageable. His lessons are well-structured and thoughtfully tailored to my daughter’s needs (we aim for confidence in class and confident GCSE mark).
Jack is also incredibly friendly and positive, which creates a really encouraging learning environment - one of my key requirements. My daughter genuinely enjoys her lessons with him and is already feeling much more confident in her maths curriculum. Highly recommended!

Brilliant Maths tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child hopes to study a STEM subject at Durham University. Can a tutor help them get the required GCSE Maths grade?
Yes, absolutely. Many of our tutors specialise in helping students secure the top GCSE grades needed for competitive university courses. They can focus on the specific topics and exam techniques required to help your child meet the entry requirements for universities like Durham or Newcastle.
Can a tutor help my child meet the entry requirements for A-Level Maths at New College Durham?
Definitely. Our tutors are very familiar with the requirements for popular sixth forms and colleges. They can work with your child to strengthen their mathematical foundation and ensure they have the knowledge and confidence needed to successfully transition to A-Level study.
How do I choose the right Maths tutor for my child?
You can watch introductory videos, read reviews from other parents, and message tutors for free before booking. We recommend finding someone your child will connect with, who has experience in the specific area your child needs help with, whether that's GCSE exam prep or building core confidence.
How much do online Maths tutors cost?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications, but you can set your own budget and filter your search to find the right tutor for your family. All pricing is shown clearly on each tutor's profile with no hidden costs.
What if my child doesn't click with their first tutor?
We know that the right fit is crucial for learning. That's why we have a first lesson guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How do I know the tutors are safe and qualified?
Your child's safety is our top priority. Every tutor is background-checked and must pass a rigorous application process. We only accept 1 in 8 tutors who apply, so you can be sure your child is learning from a trusted and experienced professional.
Can tutoring really help my child if they've lost their confidence in Maths?
Yes. In fact, rebuilding confidence is one of the biggest benefits of one-to-one tutoring. A great tutor creates a safe, encouraging environment where your child can tackle difficult topics at their own pace, celebrate small wins, and rediscover a positive attitude towards learning.
How does online tutoring actually work?
It's simple! All lessons take place in our purpose-built online classroom, which features a video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and document sharing. All your child needs is a laptop or computer with a stable internet connection, a webcam, and a microphone.
Are the lessons matched to the school curriculum?
Yes. Our tutors are experienced with the UK national curriculum, including specific exam boards like AQA and Edexcel. They can tailor lessons to support exactly what your child is learning in school, helping with homework, test preparation, and understanding tricky topics.
How quickly will we see an improvement?
Every child learns at a different pace, but consistent one-to-one support can make a big impact quickly. Many parents tell us they see a boost in their child's confidence after just a few sessions. In fact, 90% of our students improve by at least one academic grade.
Do you only offer academic subjects, or could my child learn something like coding or a musical instrument?
We offer a huge range of subjects beyond the school curriculum! Whether your child wants to learn to play the guitar, get started with coding in Python, or even learn a new language for fun, you can find expert tutors to help them explore their passions.
What happens in a typical one-hour Maths lesson?
A typical lesson starts with a quick chat about what your child has been doing in school and what they want to achieve. The tutor will then guide them through the topic using the interactive whiteboard to explain concepts and work through examples, ensuring your child is actively involved and understanding every step.
