Eleanor B
Great first 'getting to know' lesson. Ellie helped Monty warm to the idea of tutoring by tapping nicely into his interests (he said afterwards that he really liked her) . He is positive about having another session next week. It was good that they could discuss his current school book; I think this is going to help him.

Hannah B
Within 5 minutes of specking to Hannah, I knew she was going to be my son’s tutor. She’s personable, passionate and knows her industry inside out. We’ve only had 2 lessons, but I can see the confidence and enjoyment on my son’s face as he’s learning. My son said after his 2nd lesson, ‘Hannah is so calm and I’m really enjoying tutoring’. We are actually so blessed to have found Hannah.

Nic H
Nic is a very experienced teacher who is able to adapt to different children, with an array of tools up her sleeve to keep the child engaged. After every lesson Nic is very good at telling me what they went through and what we should be focusing on. I think I am even learning myself on letter formation!
My daughter is a high functioning autistic person in reception, who needs to close some gaps in her phonics, numbers and handwriting. The leap from reception to year 1 can be difficult and Nic is helping me to get my daughter to a level where she will feel stable with the transition.
I was worried that a 1hr lesson would be too hard for my daughter and that she would not be engaged. My daughter is fully engaged and I am very impressed with what my daughter can achieve in her lesson.

My child is preparing for the transition to middle school in Kempston's three-tier system. Can a tutor help with this?
Absolutely. This is a common reason parents in Kempston seek support. A tutor can help strengthen your child's core reading comprehension and fluency, ensuring they feel confident and fully prepared to access the curriculum as they move into middle school.
We are considering the Harpur Trust schools. Can we find a tutor experienced with their standards?
Yes, many of our tutors have experience helping students prepare for entry into specific independent schools. You can view their profiles, read reviews from other parents, and use the messaging system to ask about their specific experience with the Harpur Trust or similar selective schools.
What if my child and their tutor don't click?
We know how important the right fit is. That's why we have our First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor for any reason, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How do I choose the right Reading tutor for my child?
Take a look at tutor profiles to see their experience, qualifications, and what other parents have said. You can send messages to a few tutors to ask about their approach before booking. It’s all about finding someone your child will feel comfortable with.
How much do online Reading tutors in Kempston cost?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and level of study. Each tutor sets their own hourly rate, which is clearly displayed on their profile. You can easily filter tutors by price to find someone who fits your budget.
How does online tutoring actually work?
It's simple! All lessons take place in our online classroom, which features a video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and document sharing. All your child needs is a laptop or computer with a webcam, a microphone, and a stable internet connection.
How can a tutor help my child feel more confident with reading?
Confidence often comes from understanding. In a one-to-one setting, your child has a safe space to ask questions they might not ask in class. A tutor can break down topics, patiently go over tricky areas, and celebrate small wins, which all helps to build their self-belief.
Are all your tutors background-checked?
Yes, your child's safety is our top priority. Every single one of our tutors has passed a background check before they can teach on our platform. We are very selective, accepting only 1 in every 8 tutors who apply.
How long will it take to see an improvement?
Every child learns at their own pace, but consistency is key. Many parents tell us they see a boost in their child's confidence after just a few sessions. Our data shows that 90% of our students improve by at least one grade with regular tuition.
Can a tutor help if my child has a specific learning need, like dyslexia?
Yes, many of our tutors have experience and qualifications in supporting students with specific learning needs. You can check their profile for this information or send them a message directly to discuss your child's requirements and how they can best provide support.
Do you only offer academic subjects, or can my child learn other skills?
We offer a huge range of subjects beyond the school curriculum. Whether your child wants to learn to play the guitar, get into coding, or practise their public speaking, you can find brilliant, inspiring tutors on Tutorful.
