I am originally from Toronto, Canada but now work as a researcher at the University of Edinburgh. My style of teaching is flexible in that it would be planned based on the needs of the student and ultimately my lessons would be student-led. Thus, while I would make a lesson plan, it would be amenable to change based on the needs and requests of the student. I am calm, patient and encouraging in my approach to teaching, so am happy to go at whatever pace best suits the student. I have an extensive knowledge and experience of teaching varying levels of academic writing reading from primary school ...

I want to give a big thankyou to Luke for his work with my son.
He's been incredibly patient and supportive, while also encouraging improvement in his reading.
Luke struck a great balance between structured learning and making the sessions fun.
We've seen real progress and I highly recommend him.

Eleanor B
Great first 'getting to know' lesson. Ellie helped Monty warm to the idea of tutoring by tapping nicely into his interests (he said afterwards that he really liked her) . He is positive about having another session next week. It was good that they could discuss his current school book; I think this is going to help him.

Hannah B
Within 5 minutes of specking to Hannah, I knew she was going to be my son’s tutor. She’s personable, passionate and knows her industry inside out. We’ve only had 2 lessons, but I can see the confidence and enjoyment on my son’s face as he’s learning. My son said after his 2nd lesson, ‘Hannah is so calm and I’m really enjoying tutoring’. We are actually so blessed to have found Hannah.

Nic H
Nic is a very experienced teacher who is able to adapt to different children, with an array of tools up her sleeve to keep the child engaged. After every lesson Nic is very good at telling me what they went through and what we should be focusing on. I think I am even learning myself on letter formation!
My daughter is a high functioning autistic person in reception, who needs to close some gaps in her phonics, numbers and handwriting. The leap from reception to year 1 can be difficult and Nic is helping me to get my daughter to a level where she will feel stable with the transition.
I was worried that a 1hr lesson would be too hard for my daughter and that she would not be engaged. My daughter is fully engaged and I am very impressed with what my daughter can achieve in her lesson.
