Eleanor B
Great first 'getting to know' lesson. Ellie helped Monty warm to the idea of tutoring by tapping nicely into his interests (he said afterwards that he really liked her) . He is positive about having another session next week. It was good that they could discuss his current school book; I think this is going to help him.

Hannah B
Within 5 minutes of specking to Hannah, I knew she was going to be my son’s tutor. She’s personable, passionate and knows her industry inside out. We’ve only had 2 lessons, but I can see the confidence and enjoyment on my son’s face as he’s learning. My son said after his 2nd lesson, ‘Hannah is so calm and I’m really enjoying tutoring’. We are actually so blessed to have found Hannah.

Nic H
Nic is a very experienced teacher who is able to adapt to different children, with an array of tools up her sleeve to keep the child engaged. After every lesson Nic is very good at telling me what they went through and what we should be focusing on. I think I am even learning myself on letter formation!
My daughter is a high functioning autistic person in reception, who needs to close some gaps in her phonics, numbers and handwriting. The leap from reception to year 1 can be difficult and Nic is helping me to get my daughter to a level where she will feel stable with the transition.
I was worried that a 1hr lesson would be too hard for my daughter and that she would not be engaged. My daughter is fully engaged and I am very impressed with what my daughter can achieve in her lesson.

How do I choose the right Reading tutor for my child?
It's all about finding the right fit for your child's personality and learning needs. You can read detailed tutor profiles, watch introductory videos, and check reviews from other parents. We recommend messaging a few tutors to discuss your child's goals before booking your first session.
My child is at a school in Gorleston-on-Sea. Can a tutor help with the transition to secondary school?
Absolutely. This is a common time for parents to seek extra support. A tutor can help strengthen your child's reading comprehension and analytical skills, giving them a fantastic head start and building their confidence for the new challenges of secondary school.
How much does an online Reading tutor cost?
The price varies depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications. Tutors set their own hourly rates, so you can easily find someone who fits your budget. All pricing is clearly displayed on their profile, so there are no hidden costs.
What if we don't click with the first tutor?
We want to make sure you find the perfect match. That's why we have a First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How do online Reading lessons actually work?
Our online classroom has everything your child needs for a great lesson. It includes video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and a space to share documents. This means a tutor can easily share texts, highlight key passages, and work through exercises with your child in real-time.
My child's confidence with reading is very low. How can a tutor help?
Building confidence is at the heart of what our tutors do. In a one-to-one setting, your child has a safe space to make mistakes and ask questions without fear of judgement. Tutors provide constant encouragement and celebrate small wins, which can make a huge difference to a child's self-esteem.
Are there tutors who can support the reading skills needed for courses at East Norfolk Sixth Form College?
Yes, many of our tutors are experienced in helping students with the demands of A-Level and college-level study. They can help your child develop the advanced reading comprehension and critical analysis skills needed to succeed in their chosen subjects.
How do I know the tutors are qualified and safe to teach my child?
Your child's safety is our top priority. We interview every tutor and manually verify their ID. Every tutor must also have a valid DBS check. We are very selective, accepting only 1 in every 8 tutors who apply, so you can be sure your child is learning from the best.
How will I know if my child is making progress?
Our tutors provide regular feedback to keep you in the loop. You can also message your tutor at any time to discuss your child's progress. Seeing your child's growing confidence and improved school results is often the clearest sign of success.
How effective is online tutoring for improving reading skills?
It's very effective. The focused, one-to-one attention allows a tutor to tailor their approach completely to your child. In fact, 90% of students who use Tutorful improve by at least one grade. With over 4,100 reviews and a 4.6-star rating, parents tell us it works.
Is Tutorful just for school subjects, or can my child learn other skills?
We offer tutoring in over 300 subjects! While we're here to help with core subjects like Reading, Maths, and Science, your child can also learn a musical instrument like the guitar, a new language, or even skills like coding.
How flexible are the lesson times?
Very flexible. Because our tutors are based all over the UK, you can find sessions in the evenings, at weekends, or even during school holidays. You can arrange times that work for your family's schedule directly with your chosen tutor.
