Amy W
Amy W is very concise and extremely helpful when getting complicated information wrapped around your head. She is super friendly and easy to talk to, which makes sessions comfortable and stress-free. The only hiccup is the wifi choosing to bug out, now and then. But, otherwise, Amy gives a very excellent tutoring experience.

Brilliant Psychology tutors who you’ll really click with.

My child is worried about competing for a place on the University of Southampton's Psychology course. Can a tutor help?
Absolutely. Many of our A-Level Psychology tutors are specialists in helping students aim for top universities. They can focus on strengthening weaker areas of the curriculum, honing exam technique for high grades, and even helping to develop the critical thinking skills that shine in a personal statement. It's about giving your child the tools and confidence to compete effectively.
We see the resources at schools like King Edward VI. How can online tutoring help my child close that gap?
Online tutoring is a powerful way to level the playing field. It provides your child with dedicated, one-to-one attention from a subject expert who can tailor every single lesson to their needs. This personalised approach often goes beyond what's possible in a classroom, ensuring your child fully grasps complex topics and builds the confidence to excel, regardless of the school they attend.
Are there tutors who understand the A-Level curriculum used in Southampton sixth forms like Barton Peveril?
Yes. Our tutors cover all major UK exam boards, including AQA, OCR, and Edexcel, which are taught in colleges across the country, including in Southampton. When you search, you can filter for tutors with specific experience in your child's exam board to ensure the support is perfectly aligned with their studies.
Is online tutoring as effective as in-person for a subject like Psychology?
It really is. Our online platform features an interactive whiteboard, document sharing, and video chat, making it easy to discuss complex theories and analyse case studies. The big advantage is access; your child in Southampton can connect with a top Psychology graduate from anywhere in the UK, not just whoever happens to live nearby.
My child finds writing Psychology essays particularly difficult. Can a tutor focus on that?
Definitely. Essay technique is a common area where students need support. A tutor can work with your child on structuring arguments, using evidence effectively, and mastering the specific assessment objectives to hit the top mark bands. They can turn essay writing from a source of anxiety into an area of strength.
What happens if my child doesn't click with their first Psychology tutor?
Finding the right fit is the most important thing. We have a first lesson guarantee so you can feel confident. If you don't get on with your first tutor for any reason, just email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover the cost of your first session with a new tutor.
How do we find a tutor who specialises in a specific area of Psychology, like biopsychology?
Our tutors list their areas of expertise on their profiles. You can read their detailed bios to see if they highlight particular strengths in areas like biopsychology, research methods, or psychopathology. You can also message them before booking to ask about their experience.
How much does online Psychology tutoring for a student in Southampton cost?
Our tutors set their own hourly rates, which typically range from £25 to £50, depending on their experience and level of expertise. You can see each tutor's price clearly on their profile, so you can find someone brilliant who fits your family's budget.
How will I know if my child is making progress?
Our tutors provide regular feedback on your child's development. You'll be able to see their confidence grow as they start to master tricky topics and improve their grades on practice questions and essays. The best sign is often when they start talking about the subject with genuine interest and excitement.
What technology do we need for online lessons?
It's very simple. All your child needs is a laptop or computer with a webcam, a microphone, and a stable internet connection. Our entire classroom is browser-based, so there's no software to download. It's designed to be as easy and accessible as possible.
How long is a typical tutoring session?
Most sessions are one hour long, which is usually ideal for maintaining focus and covering a topic in depth. However, you can discuss different session lengths with your tutor, as they can be flexible to suit your child's concentration span and learning needs.
How do we find a tutor who specialises in a specific area of Psychology, like biopsychology?
Yes, we do! We have expert tutors across more than 300 subjects, from core academics like Sociology and Law to hobbies and practical skills like coding or learning a musical instrument. You can easily search for any subject your child is passionate about on our website.
