I love teaching languages. I have taught Latin and Spanish in both the independent and maintained sectors and have run Adult Education courses for Local Authorities. I tutor Latin, Spanish and French at both GCSE and “A” Level. My strength as a tutor is in being able to detect the areas of knowledge or skill with which the student needs help and tailoring the lessons to improve the student’s performance in those areas. Having examined many past papers at both GCSE and A Level, I am very familiar with the examination style and content in my subjects of expertise. I graduated in Classics (Latin and A...

Carmen G
During my lessons with Carmen, she was very patient with me when I made errors and mistakes. She didn't judge or reprimand me at all, and instead made me feel confident and comfortable with speaking Spanish. As I am studying the A-Level Spanish course, she would give me extra material to study which relates to the exam topics, and give me practice in speaking, writing and listening. It was a lovely experience and I hope to book her again.

Carol G
Carol is brilliant! She clearly knows her subject inside out and tailors the lessons and homework excellently, too, often adapting ‘on the go’ -as stuff comes up, that leads to interesting tangents of related learning on the subject. She is really friendly …. and interesting, too, with fascinating life experiences, like living in Ibiza for years with her kids when younger. Highly recommended by me? Yes indeed! Look no further, you’ve found a brilliant tutor who provides incredibly good value one to one teaching!

Juila was great. My son really got a lot out of the classes and had good feedback. We also got a comprehensive report at the end. So we are very happy with the confidence it has given him.

Brilliant Languages tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child attends a very academic school in West London. Can I find a tutor experienced with that level of pressure?
Absolutely. Many of our Languages tutors have experience helping students from highly academic environments. You can view each tutor's full profile, including their own educational background and teaching experience, to find someone who understands the specific pressures and expectations your child faces.
We're aiming for a top London university. Can a tutor help my child's language skills stand out on their application?
Yes, a tutor can be a great help. They can work with your child on advanced topics beyond the A-Level curriculum, helping them develop the kind of deep subject knowledge and passion that impresses admissions tutors at competitive universities. This can make a real difference to their personal statement and interview performance.
How do I choose the right Languages tutor for my child?
The best way is to browse tutor profiles. You can watch their introductory videos, read reviews from other parents, and check their experience. You can also send a message to a tutor before booking to discuss your child's needs and see if they are a good fit.
What if my child doesn't click with their first tutor?
We know how important the right fit is. That's why we have our First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How can a tutor help my child build confidence in speaking a foreign language?
One-to-one lessons provide a safe, supportive space for your child to practise speaking without the fear of making mistakes in front of a whole class. Tutors use conversation-based learning to build fluency and confidence, which is often the key to unlocking a student's potential.
Are all the tutors background-checked?
Yes, your child's safety is our top priority. Every single one of our tutors has passed a background check. We are also very selective, accepting only 1 in 8 tutors who apply to our platform, so you can be sure your child is in safe, expert hands.
How do online lessons actually work?
Our online classroom has everything your child needs for a great lesson. It includes video chat, an interactive whiteboard for sharing notes and examples, and a document editor. It’s a simple and effective way for them to learn from home.
How much does online Languages tutoring cost?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications. You can see each tutor's hourly rate clearly on their profile, allowing you to find an experienced tutor who fits your budget. There are no hidden fees or contracts.
Is this just for school subjects, or can my child learn other skills too?
While we have thousands of tutors for academic subjects like French, Spanish and German, we also have experts in a huge range of other areas. Your child could learn to code in Python, play the guitar, or even get support with their university application.
How often should my child have a lesson?
Most families find that one lesson a week is a great starting point for consistent progress. However, the schedule is completely flexible. You can arrange a frequency that works for your child's goals and your family's schedule directly with your chosen tutor.
Can a tutor help with specific exams like the GCSE or A-Level?
Yes. Our tutors are experts in the UK curriculum and can provide targeted support for specific exam boards and techniques. They can help your child master tricky topics, refine their exam strategy, and build the confidence they need for exam day.
How do online lessons actually work?
The standard lesson length is one hour, which gives enough time to dive into a topic without losing focus. However, you can discuss different lesson lengths with your tutor if your child would benefit from a shorter or longer session.
