’ve had a really great experience learning French with Sandrine. She listens to my needs and adapts lessons to suit what I want to work on, which helps a lot. She’s supportive, patient, and never makes me feel like I’m not good enough, which has really built my confidence. I’d definitely recommend her, especially for A-level French students.

Genevieve M
Genevieve is a fantastic tutor. She is extremely engaging to learn from, explaining everything very patiently and clearly, and she has a really good sense of humour. I’m particularly impressed by the effort she puts in to prepare extra learning materials for me between classes based on the specifics of what I struggled with in the previous lesson. I really didn’t expect that level of additional work from her, it’s so thoughtful and helpful. I intend to be learning French up to conversational fluency so I need many, many hours of teaching, and I am therefore very glad I chose Genevieve to deliver them as she makes the time fly by.

Brilliant French tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child attends John Ferneley College. Can a tutor help them get the grades for MV16?
Absolutely. Many of our tutors specialise in helping students secure the GCSE grades they need for their first-choice sixth form. They can work with your child to target the specific areas of the French curriculum required to boost their grade and strengthen their application to Melton Vale Sixth Form College.
We're hoping for a place at a top university like Loughborough. Can a tutor support this goal?
Yes. A strong set of A-Levels starts with great GCSEs. Our tutors can help your child build a solid foundation in French at GCSE, which not only helps with A-Level study but also demonstrates the academic rigour that universities like Loughborough and Nottingham value highly.
How do I choose the right French tutor for my child?
It's easy to find the perfect match on our platform. You can watch introductory videos, read reviews from other parents, and check each tutor's experience and qualifications. We recommend messaging a few tutors to discuss your child's needs before booking a session to ensure you find a great fit.
What if my child doesn't click with their first tutor?
We know that the right personal connection is key to learning. That's why we have our First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How can a tutor help my child with their confidence in French?
Confidence is often the biggest barrier to progress. In a one-to-one setting, your child has a safe space to ask questions and make mistakes without fear of judgement. Our tutors are brilliant at building a positive rapport, celebrating small wins, and helping students feel capable and motivated.
Are all the tutors background-checked?
Yes, your child's safety is our top priority. Every tutor on our platform undergoes a thorough vetting process, including an identity and background check, before they can start teaching. We only accept 1 in 8 tutors who apply, so you can be sure your child is in safe, expert hands.
How much does online French tutoring cost?
Our tutors set their own hourly rates, which typically start from around £15. The price is based on their experience and qualifications. You can see each tutor's rate clearly on their profile, so you can find an expert who fits your budget.
How does online tutoring actually work?
It's simple! All lessons take place in our purpose-built online classroom, which features a video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and document sharing. All your child needs is a laptop or computer with a webcam, a microphone, and a stable internet connection.
Can a tutor help with specific parts of the GCSE, like the speaking exam?
Definitely. That's one of the main benefits of one-to-one tuition. A tutor can dedicate entire sessions to practising conversational skills, improving pronunciation, and building the confidence your child needs to excel in their speaking and listening exams.
How long is a typical tutoring session?
Most sessions are one hour long, as this gives enough time to cover a topic in detail without your child losing focus. However, you can arrange different session lengths directly with your chosen tutor to fit your child's needs and schedule.
How quickly can we get started?
You can get started very quickly. Many of our tutors can offer a session within a few days of your initial message. Simply find a tutor you like, send them a message, and arrange a time that works for you both.
How much does online French tutoring cost?
We offer a huge range of subjects beyond the school curriculum. Whether your child wants to learn to play the guitar, get started with coding, master a new craft, or even learn a new language for fun, we have expert tutors available to help them explore their passions.
