Ihsanur R
Last Year I did not do well in English Language in which I had a Grade 3. With my November resits fast approaching I felt very privileged to have Ihsanur as my tutor. He was able to present lessons in a concise way which helped me understand what went well and what I needed to improve on.
After the November resits I managed to obtain a Grade 4 in English Language AQA. I would really recommend him for those taking the GCSE 2026 because he is committed and dedicated in order to achieve academic potential with pupils. Thanks again Ihsanur for the hard work you do.

I can’t recommend Smita enough! After struggling and retaking my English Language exam twice before she’s the only tutor who has truly managed to teach me in a way that makes everything click. She is an genuinly an incredible tutor who genuinely cares about her students’ progress. I honestly wish I’d found her sooner! I can’t thank her enough for helping me. :)

Flora I
Flora has been helping Isla prepare for her English Literature and English Language GCSE exams. From the first lesson, Flora “clicked” with Isla and quickly understood her needs. She made Isla feel comfortable and pinpointed areas for development and was so supportive. Isla felt at ease and could ask questions knowing that the necessary time would be taken to help her understand. Flora was incredibly accommodating, adjusting lesson times and dates as needed. She was also very responsive to messages and promptly returned marked work, going above and beyond to support us. Isla’s work was annotated and marked, providing valuable feedback and areas for future focus, which has been invaluable. Flora’s passion for the subject shone through, thank you so much Flora!

Jessica C
Our son has had four lessons in English Language and English Literature with Jessica so far, as he’s sitting his GCSEs this year. It’s clear Jessica has a strong background and is truly in the right profession—she knows exactly what’s needed and structures each lesson to cover any gaps. She explains everything clearly, focuses on exam technique, and is patient and supportive. Our son enjoys the lessons and already feels more confident. We’re planning to continue and are very glad to have Jessica as his tutor. We highly recommend her!

Brilliant English Language tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child is preparing for 11+ exams for grammar schools in the Bournemouth area. Can an online tutor help with this?
Yes, absolutely. Many of our tutors specialise in 11+ and entrance exam preparation. They can tailor sessions to the specific requirements and question styles of schools in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area, building both the knowledge and exam technique your child needs to feel confident.
With authors like Mary Shelley and Thomas Hardy having connections to Dorset, can a tutor help my child explore this local literary heritage?
What a fantastic idea! That's a brilliant way to bring English to life. Tutors can create lessons around local literary figures, helping your child in Bournemouth connect their studies to the rich history on their doorstep, making their learning far more memorable and engaging.
Is online tutoring as effective as meeting a tutor in person?
We find it’s even better for many families. Online tutoring gives your child in Bournemouth access to a much wider pool of top specialist tutors from across the UK, not just those who happen to live nearby. With features like interactive whiteboards and session recordings, it's incredibly engaging. Plus, the convenience of learning from home is a huge bonus.
What if my child doesn't click with their first English Language tutor?
It's so important that your child feels comfortable with their tutor. That's why we have you covered. If the first session with a new tutor isn't the right fit, simply email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover the cost of your first lesson with an alternative tutor.
How do you vet your tutors?
We're very selective because your child deserves the best. Only 1 in 8 tutors who apply make it onto our platform. Every tutor is interviewed by a member of our team, has their qualifications checked, and undergoes a background check. We choose tutors who are not only subject experts but also brilliant, caring teachers.
How flexible is the scheduling? We have a lot of after-school commitments.
That's one of the biggest benefits of online tutoring. You can schedule sessions at times that genuinely work for your family – evenings, weekends, you name it. There's no travel time to worry about, so it's much easier to fit quality tutoring around sports clubs and other activities.
What technology do we need for an online lesson?
It's very simple. All you need is a laptop or tablet with a webcam, a microphone, and a stable internet connection. Our online classroom is built into our website, so there's no complex software to download. It's designed to be as easy and intuitive as possible.
My child has lost their confidence in English. How can a tutor help?
This is something we see all the time, and it's where one-to-one tutoring makes a huge difference. A tutor provides a safe, encouraging space to rebuild confidence step-by-step. They celebrate small wins and help your child see their own progress, which is often the key to them believing in themselves again.
Are tutors able to help with specific exam boards, like AQA or Edexcel for GCSEs?
Yes, definitely. Our tutors have experience with all major UK exam boards. You can filter for tutors who specialise in the specific board your child's school uses, ensuring the support they receive is perfectly aligned with what they're studying for their exams.
How much does online English Language tuition cost for students in Bournemouth?
Our tutors set their own hourly rates, which typically start from around £20. Prices vary based on the tutor's experience and level of demand. You can easily browse profiles and filter by price to find a fantastic tutor who fits your family's budget.
My child enjoys creative writing but not analysing texts. Can we just focus on that?
Of course. The beauty of one-to-one tutoring is that it's completely tailored to your child. If they want to focus on developing their creative writing skills, we have specialist tutors who can help them with everything from plot to character. It's a great way to nurture a passion.
Beyond English, what other subjects do you offer tutoring for?
We offer support in over 300 subjects! So, whether your child needs help with GCSE Maths, A-Level Chemistry, learning to code, or even mastering a musical instrument, you can find an expert online tutor to help them right here.
