I started tutoring sessions with Rachel a few months ago, because I felt that my essay writing could do with some attention, particularly getting my ideas down in a clear and concise way. From going from a year of not writing essays during my gap year, to suddenly writing them was a bit of a shock! However, Rachel has really been of great benefit, as I have noticed improvements in my sentence structuring, and I am now finding that I am feeling more confident about writing essays for my degree. She has helped me to identify bad habits and work on the good ones, to make sure I am on the right track! Sometimes it is really hard when you finish writing an essay to take a step back and look critically at it. Rachel has helped me to look critically at my own aspects of writing style and has been very helpful at suggesting areas of improvement. Studying during lockdown has been hard, let alone writing many essays and only having the feedback when it is marked. Rachel has helped me because she has provided me with feedback and suggested areas where I could improve.

Tayla is an amazing teacher and a fabulous person. Her lessons are taught in a very comfortable, friendly environment, and her feedback is extremely advanced and professional. She also makes sure she gets to know her students’ strengths and weaknesses, as well as what they want to take away from each lesson. As someone who didn’t have much experience in creative writing before seeking a tutor, I strongly believe that Tayla has helped me improve my skills in a very short period of time, and I still learn a lot from her in every new lesson. Moreover, Tayla is very well-organised and is always on time. To help her students, she even mentions excellent resources from outside Tutorful, ie books and useful websites. I would highly recommend her as a tutor if you are interested in learning about English Literature and/or Writing at any level!

Leanne is a kind and friendly tutor, able to put my son at ease from his first english lesson. She creates a learning environment which engages the interests of the student, paramount for positive and effective learning.

Amy is an excellent teacher. Very highly recommended. Amy has crafted our lessons to focus on the areas that I would most like to improve, whilst highlighting other areas that are worth pursuing. I feel I have already improved a great deal with her guidance.

From the first point of contact Helen has been amazing with excellent communication about aims / content of the sessions and she clearly thoroughly prepares ahead of sessions. Helen has been tutoring my teenager for their GCSE drama course (with focus on the written requirements) and she is very knowledgeable. More than that she has a calm and reassuring presence and totally put my teenager (who has extreme anxiety about written work) at ease. My teenager is delighted with the work they have done and is now feeling good about their ability. We will be booking more sessions (my teenager has requested this!) with Helen and for a variety of subjects as she has the ability to engage a reluctant and anxious teenager in a very positive way. Smiles all round!
