Six years ago I left my post as Head of Spanish at a high-ranking independent school in Northamptonshire in order to move to Devon.During my tenure of 6 years, Spanish rapidly became the most popular language, with some excellent results and many pupils keen to progress to A Level. Since my last post, I have been tutoring Spanish online, primarily GCSE and A Level, as well as teaching groups face-to-face of all levels. With 32years of teaching a range of abilities and ages, I have a vast amount of experience and success in improving all 4 language skills and teaching exam technique. I have had...

Hetty S
Experienced and supportive Spanish tutor
¡Hola! I’m Hester, an experienced language tutor with over 8 years of teaching Spanish and English. I fell in love with Spanish while living, working, and studying in Spain for more than seven years, including time at a Spanish university, and I enjoy helping others discover the language too. Tutoring allows me to share not just grammar and vocabulary, but also the culture and real-life use of Spanish that make learning rewarding.I believe students achieve their best when they feel supported and motivated, so I create a positive learning environment where they feel comfortable asking questions an...
Carolina played a key role in my son's academic progress, supporting his development from a Grade 4 to a Grade 8. Her teaching combined high academic standards with warmth and adaptability, helping my son grow in confidence and motivation. She has warmth, enthusiasm and flexibility which suited my son immensely. I recommend her highly.

Nigel Q
My 15-year-old son is working through the GCSE Spanish with Nigel. I am very relieved to have found such a good teacher. He is clear and thorough, and he encourages him throughout the lessons. It is clear that Nigel knows the syllabus well and is an experienced teacher, which in my opinion is very important for the exams. Most importantly, my son enjoys the lessons and thinks Nigel is an excellent teacher.
I also rate this site 5 stars. It is clear and simple to use.

Brilliant Spanish tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
Can a tutor help my child specifically prepare for the Spanish A-Level at Truro and Penwith College?
Absolutely. Many of our tutors have experience helping students bridge the gap between GCSE and A-Level. They can work with your child on the specific skills and topics needed to feel confident starting their course at Truro and Penwith College, ensuring they begin on the front foot.
My child is aiming for a university like Exeter or Bristol. Can a tutor help with that?
Yes, this is a very common goal for families we support. A tutor can help your child secure the high GCSE or A-Level grade needed for a strong application. They can also help build the analytical and language skills that admissions tutors at competitive universities like Exeter and Bristol look for.
What if my child doesn't click with their first tutor?
We understand that the right fit is crucial for learning. That's why we have our First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor for any reason, just email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
Is tutoring just for school subjects like Spanish, or can my child learn other skills?
While we have fantastic tutors for academic subjects, we also offer support in a huge range of other areas. Your child could learn anything from coding or playing the guitar to a new language for fun. It's all about helping them discover and grow their passions.
How do I choose the right Spanish tutor for my child?
You can read detailed profiles for each tutor, watch their introductory videos, and check reviews from other parents. You can message tutors before booking to ask about their experience with the GCSE curriculum or their teaching style. It helps you find the perfect match for your child's personality and needs.
How much does a Spanish tutor cost?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications, but you can see each tutor's hourly rate clearly on their profile. There are no hidden fees or contracts, so you can find quality support that fits your family's budget.
My child has lost confidence in Spanish. Can a tutor help with that?
Definitely. This is one of the biggest benefits of one-to-one tuition. A tutor creates a safe, encouraging space where your child can ask questions without feeling embarrassed. By breaking down tricky topics and celebrating small wins, they help rebuild that self-belief, which often makes the biggest difference to their results.
How do I know the tutors are safe to work with my child?
Your child's safety is our top priority. We interview every tutor and all tutors must have a valid DBS check before they can teach on our platform. We only accept 1 in 8 applicants, so you can be sure your child is learning from a trusted and vetted professional.
How do the online lessons work?
Our online classroom is designed to be simple and interactive. It has a video chat, an interactive whiteboard for working through problems together, and a way to share documents. It's a really effective and engaging way for your child to learn from the comfort of your home.
How often should my child have a lesson?
Most students have one lesson a week, as this gives them time to practise between sessions. However, it's completely flexible. You and your tutor can decide on a schedule that works best for your child's goals and your family's routine, whether that's a weekly top-up or more intensive help before an exam.
What happens in the first lesson?
The first lesson is usually about getting to know each other. The tutor will chat with your child about what they enjoy and what they find difficult in Spanish. They’ll work together to set some goals, so every future lesson is focused on exactly what your child needs to make progress.
