My daughter has been having tutoring session with Jo for some time now, her reading has improved so much in that time. My daughter can be quite shy but she settled with Jo very quickly and she makes the lesson engaging and fun.Would recommend to anyone who needs some help for their child who is behind at school.

Eleanor B
Great first 'getting to know' lesson. Ellie helped Monty warm to the idea of tutoring by tapping nicely into his interests (he said afterwards that he really liked her) . He is positive about having another session next week. It was good that they could discuss his current school book; I think this is going to help him.

Hannah B
Within 5 minutes of specking to Hannah, I knew she was going to be my son’s tutor. She’s personable, passionate and knows her industry inside out. We’ve only had 2 lessons, but I can see the confidence and enjoyment on my son’s face as he’s learning. My son said after his 2nd lesson, ‘Hannah is so calm and I’m really enjoying tutoring’. We are actually so blessed to have found Hannah.

Nic H
Nic is a very experienced teacher who is able to adapt to different children, with an array of tools up her sleeve to keep the child engaged. After every lesson Nic is very good at telling me what they went through and what we should be focusing on. I think I am even learning myself on letter formation!
My daughter is a high functioning autistic person in reception, who needs to close some gaps in her phonics, numbers and handwriting. The leap from reception to year 1 can be difficult and Nic is helping me to get my daughter to a level where she will feel stable with the transition.
I was worried that a 1hr lesson would be too hard for my daughter and that she would not be engaged. My daughter is fully engaged and I am very impressed with what my daughter can achieve in her lesson.

Brilliant Reading tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
We're aiming for a grammar school place. Can a tutor help with the 11+ reading component?
Yes, absolutely. Many of our tutors are very experienced with 11+ preparation. They can help your child build a strong vocabulary, master comprehension techniques, and improve their speed and accuracy, all of which are vital for the English and verbal reasoning papers.
The local secondary schools like Wembley High are very competitive. Can a tutor help my child keep up?
Yes. A tutor can provide brilliant support to ensure your child feels confident and prepared for a demanding curriculum. They can help bridge any knowledge gaps, solidify their understanding of key concepts, and develop the strong foundational skills needed to thrive in a competitive academic environment.
How do I choose the best reading tutor for my child?
It's a great question. You can watch introductory videos, read reviews from other parents, and check each tutor's qualifications and experience on their profile. We recommend messaging a few tutors to discuss your child's needs before booking a session to ensure you find the perfect match.
How much does a reading tutor in Brent cost?
The cost varies depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications. Prices are clearly displayed on each tutor's profile, so you can find an expert who fits your budget. There are no hidden fees or contracts.
How do online lessons work?
Our online classroom has everything your child needs for a great lesson, including a video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and a space to share documents. It's a simple, secure, and effective way for your child to learn from home.
How can a tutor help if my child has lost confidence in their reading?
Confidence is key. A one-to-one tutor creates a safe and encouraging environment where your child can learn at their own pace without fear of making mistakes. By celebrating small wins and tailoring lessons to their interests, a tutor can help rediscover their love for reading and build their self-esteem.
What if we don't click with the first tutor?
We want to make sure you find the right fit, which is why we have our First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
Are your tutors qualified to teach reading?
Yes. Our tutors include qualified teachers, experienced educators, and subject matter experts. We interview every applicant and only accept 1 in 8, so you can be sure your child is learning from the best. All tutors are also background-checked for your peace of mind.
How long are the tutoring sessions?
Typically, sessions are one hour long, but you can arrange different lengths with your tutor directly. Consistency is often more important than length, so many parents find a regular weekly session works best for their child.
How do I know if tutoring is working?
Our tutors provide regular feedback to keep you updated on your child's progress. You'll also likely see improvements in their confidence, their schoolwork, and their general attitude towards reading and learning.
Is this just for school subjects, or can my child learn other skills?
We offer tutoring for a huge range of subjects and skills beyond the school curriculum! Whether your child wants to learn to play the guitar, get started with coding, or even learn a new language, you can find an expert tutor to help them explore their passions.
