Amy W
Amy W is very concise and extremely helpful when getting complicated information wrapped around your head. She is super friendly and easy to talk to, which makes sessions comfortable and stress-free. The only hiccup is the wifi choosing to bug out, now and then. But, otherwise, Amy gives a very excellent tutoring experience.

Brilliant Psychology tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child is at a comprehensive and I worry they're falling behind peers from places like Portsmouth Grammar. Can a tutor help bridge that gap?
Absolutely. This is a common concern and where one-to-one tutoring shines. A tutor provides personalised attention that isn't always possible in a busy classroom, focusing on your child's specific needs to build both their analytical skills and their confidence, ensuring they feel just as prepared as any other student.
We're hoping for a place at the University of Portsmouth. Can a tutor help with the skills needed for a competitive Psychology degree application?
Yes. Our tutors, many of whom have studied at top universities themselves, can help your child develop the critical thinking and essay-writing abilities that admissions tutors look for. They can help them engage with the subject at a deeper level, which is vital for both their A-Levels and their university application.
Is online tutoring as effective as in-person for a subject like Psychology?
It really is. Our online classroom has interactive whiteboards, document sharing, and video chat, making it perfect for discussing complex theories and analysing case studies. Plus, the biggest advantage is access – your child in Portsmouth can learn from a top Psychology specialist from anywhere in the UK, not just who lives nearby.
What happens if my child doesn't get on with the first tutor we try?
It's so important that your child feels comfortable with their tutor. If it's not the right fit for any reason, just email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover the cost of your first session with a new tutor. We're here to help you find the perfect match.
How do you ensure your Psychology tutors are high quality?
We're very selective. Only 1 in 8 applicants make it onto Tutorful. Every tutor is interviewed, background-checked, and has proven expertise in their subject, so you can be sure your child is learning from a true professional who is passionate about Psychology.
How much does online Psychology tutoring for a student in Portsmouth cost?
Our tutors set their own rates, typically starting from £20 per hour. Prices vary based on the tutor's experience and the level of study. You can browse profiles and filter by price to find a brilliant tutor who fits your budget.
Can tutoring sessions fit around a busy sixth form timetable?
Of course. Flexibility is one of the key benefits of online tutoring. You can schedule sessions for evenings, weekends, or during study periods – whatever works best for your child and your family. You're in complete control of the schedule.
What technology do we need for online lessons?
It's very simple. All you need is a laptop or computer with a webcam, a microphone, and a stable internet connection. Our entire online classroom runs in your web browser, so there's no complicated software to install.
My child is also interested in Sociology. Do you offer tutors for other A-Level subjects?
Yes, we do! We have expert tutors across a huge range of subjects, from core A-Levels like Sociology, English, and Maths to music, coding, and languages. You can easily find support for all of your child's academic interests on our platform.
How does a tutor help build confidence, not just knowledge?
Confidence comes from repeated success. In a one-to-one session, a tutor creates a safe space where your child can ask questions without fear of judgement. By breaking down tough topics and celebrating small wins, the tutor helps your child see that they *can* do it, which is the most powerful feeling of all.
Can we see reviews from other parents?
Yes, absolutely. Each tutor profile includes reviews from other students and parents. We're proud to have a 4.6/5 star rating from over 4,100 reviews, which we hope gives you confidence in the quality of support we provide.
Can tutoring sessions fit around a busy sixth form timetable?
Very quickly! Once you send a message to a tutor you like, they'll typically reply within 24 hours. You can often have your first session booked and ready to go within a couple of days, providing support for your child exactly when they need it.
