Patient Psychology tutor
I am originally from Toronto, Canada but now work as a researcher at the University of Edinburgh. My style of teaching is flexible in that it would be planned based on the needs of the student and ultimately my lessons would be student-led. Thus, while I would make a lesson plan, it would be amenable to change based on the needs and requests of the student. I am calm, patient and encouraging in my approach to teaching, so am happy to go at whatever pace best suits the student. I have an extensive knowledge and experience of teaching varying levels of academic writing reading from primary school ...
Amy W is very concise and extremely helpful when getting complicated information wrapped around your head. She is super friendly and easy to talk to, which makes sessions comfortable and stress-free. The only hiccup is the wifi choosing to bug out, now and then. But, otherwise, Amy gives a very excellent tutoring experience.

Brilliant Psychology tutors who you’ll really click with.

My child wants to study Psychology at the University of Dundee. Can a tutor help their application stand out against those from independent schools?
Absolutely. This is exactly where a great tutor can make a difference. They can help your child develop a deeper, more critical understanding of the subject that goes beyond the curriculum. This allows them to write a personal statement that shows genuine insight and perform with confidence in any potential interviews, levelling the playing field completely.
How can an online tutor properly support my child with the Scottish Highers curriculum they're studying at their Dundee school?
We have a huge number of tutors who are experts in the SQA curriculum, including the Psychology Higher and Advanced Higher. During your search, you can filter for tutors with specific experience in the Scottish system, ensuring your child gets support that's perfectly aligned with what they're learning at school.
Is online tutoring as effective as meeting a tutor in person?
We find it's even more effective for many families. Online tutoring removes geographical barriers, giving your child in Dundee access to the best Psychology specialists across the entire UK, not just whoever lives nearby. With features like interactive whiteboards and resource sharing, it's a dynamic and engaging way to learn from the comfort of home.
What if my child doesn't click with the first Psychology tutor we try?
It's really important that your child feels comfortable and inspired by their tutor, so we make this part easy. If the first session isn't the perfect fit, just email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover the cost of your first lesson with a new tutor.
How do you ensure your Psychology tutors are high quality?
We're very selective because we know how much trust you're placing in us. We accept just 1 in 8 tutors who apply. Every tutor is background-checked, interviewed by a member of our team, and has their qualifications verified to ensure your child is learning from a true professional.
Can a tutor help with my child's general confidence, not just their Psychology grades?
Yes, this is one of the most important outcomes we see. When a student works one-to-one with a supportive tutor who champions them, their self-belief grows. Seeing them finally grasp a tricky concept or articulate an idea with newfound clarity does wonders for their confidence, both in and out of the classroom.
How much does online Psychology tutoring for a student in Dundee cost?
Our tutors set their own rates, typically starting from around £15-£25 per hour, with prices varying based on the tutor's experience and level of study. You can see each tutor's price clearly on their profile, so you can find someone who fits your budget perfectly.
How flexible are the lesson times? Our family schedule is quite hectic.
That's one of the big benefits of online tutoring. Tutors offer sessions during evenings, weekends, and school holidays to fit around busy family lives. You can see each tutor's availability on their profile and arrange times that work for you, taking the stress out of scheduling.
What technology do we need for an online lesson?
It's very simple. All your child needs is a laptop or computer with a webcam, a microphone, and a stable internet connection. Our custom-built online classroom runs directly in your web browser, so there's no complicated software to install.
How will I know if my child is actually making progress?
Tutors provide feedback after each session, and you can message them at any time to discuss your child's progress. The goal is always a partnership, so you'll be kept in the loop on what they're covering, where they're improving, and the plan for future lessons.
Can we find a tutor who specialises in a specific area of Psychology, like social or cognitive psychology?
Yes, definitely. Many of our Psychology tutors have specialisms from their own degree-level or postgraduate studies. You can read their detailed bios to find someone whose expertise matches your child's specific interests or areas of difficulty. This is a huge advantage of having a UK-wide choice.
How much does online Psychology tutoring for a student in Dundee cost?
We believe learning is for life! Beyond Psychology and core school subjects, we have fantastic tutors who teach everything from music and art to coding and public speaking. It's a great way for your child to explore a passion or build a new skill.
