A Truly Exceptional Tutor Joanne W. has been an extraordinary support for my daughter, who has Down Syndrome and attends a mainstream school. Due to limited staff training, my daughter began falling behind in maths during Year 8. We knew she needed targeted, personalised support. Initially, I was hesitant about online tutoring,I wasn’t sure how my daughter would respond. But from the very first session, she connected with Joanna instantly. Joanna’s warmth, patience, and engaging teaching style made all the difference. I often find myself wishing she worked at my daughter’s school! After just three sessions, we began to see small but meaningful improvements in my daughter’s counting skills. Within a month, her school also noticed the progress. In fact, in just two months, she went from not being considered for Entry Level 1 (even by Year 11) to being put forward for Entry Level in Year 9, with the possibility of reaching Level 1 Maths by Year 11 if she continues on this path. It’s truly remarkable. Joanna is more than just kind and encouraging, she ensures that my daughter stays focused and truly understands what she’s learning. The sessions are one of highlights in my daughter’s week, and she absolutely loves them. We’ve recently started working on phonics as well, and I’m eager to see how things develop in this area. Anne is a brilliant Maths tutor. She has great knowledge of the Maths skills that students have to demonstrate for the different GCSE grades. My daughter is aiming to achieve grade 4 and Anne focused her teaching on achieving that grade, so that my daughter knew exactly what she needed to learn (which wasn’t always clear in her school Maths lessons). Anne formed a really positive relationship with my daughter and tailored her teaching to her needs. Anne was patient, encouraging and positive, always emphasising what my daughter could do. Prior to Anne’s lessons, my daughter believed that she couldn’t do Maths and it was scary, and there would often be tears. But, Anne built her confidence and taught her that with time and repetition, going over the key skills, she wasn’t stupid, and she could give Maths a go. Regardless of what my daughter’s GCSE result is next week, I’m grateful to Anne for breaking down Maths barriers, and for giving my daughter the confidence to try, and to not give up. When my daughter told me that a Maths lesson with Anne was “good” and that “I think she gets me,” it was a revelation, after all the stressful years of Maths lessons at school.

Shaun is a sensational maths tutor, his methods of teaching adjust to you learning needs and has fantastic patience when becoming stuck with certain aspects.
