Hadika M
Dedicated German tutor
As a Chemical Engineering graduate from the University of Manchester, I saw firsthand how many of my classmates struggled with Maths and English. It wasn't just a few; it was a common challenge. Seeing their difficulties sparked something in me. I found that I genuinely loved helping them understand concepts that seemed confusing. The feeling of watching them grasp a difficult idea was incredibly rewarding, and that's when I discovered my passion for teaching.I strongly disagree with the idea that people are naturally "good" at one subject and "bad" at another. I believe that anyone can learn anything...

Victoria D
Friendly German tutor
I have been teaching for over 15 years, in schools, universities, colleges and museums, as well as a private tutor. My students have ranged from children as young as 6 to adults in their 50s. I hold to the principle that the best way to learn and engage with a subject is to be as relaxed and comfortable as possible, and so I aim to set all students at ease. It's easier to use your own brain power when you know you are in a safe space!
I hold an undergraduate degree with joint honours in Egyptology and Classics, a Masters' degree in Classics with a focus on dramatic literature, and I am close...

Ricarda M
My daughter has been using Ricarda for A Level German tuition for the past couple of months. My daughter's test grades have already gone up and her teacher has commented on the progress she has made over the last couple of months. Ricarda is very personable, reliable and responsive. She listens, and quickly understood the areas my daughter needs to work on. She is a great tutor and I'm very happy that I chose her to support my daughter. I would highly recommend Ricarda!

Mara F
I've been learning German with Mara for around 2 months having used language apps prior to this.
Mara quickly grasped my level, identifying my weaknesses whilst also taking onboard my overall aspirations and what I hoped to achieve from tutoring.
Throughout my lessons, she has both requested and listened to my feedback regarding lesson structure, which are tailored to my preferences making them engaging and enjoyable.
Mara's traditional approach has improved my understanding of fundamental German language concepts which I hope to build on in the future.
In addition to the above, Mara is flexible with her schedule and very responsive outside of lesson time.

My daughter was predicted a grade 5 in her German GCSE but, thanks to Astrid, she achieved a grade 7! Astrid’s lessons were clear, supportive, and really helped build her confidence, she even started to enjoy German. Astrid was also kind and flexible, which made the whole experience so positive. We’re so grateful for the huge difference she made and would highly recommend her!

Brilliant German tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child is at a Lancaster grammar school. Can a tutor help them keep up with the fast pace of A-Level German?
Absolutely. Many of our tutors are experienced in supporting students from high-achieving schools. They can help your child consolidate their classroom learning, go over challenging topics like complex sentence structures or literary analysis, and build the confidence needed to excel in a competitive environment.
We're hoping for a place at Lancaster University. Can a tutor help strengthen my child's German A-Level for their UCAS application?
Yes, definitely. A top A-Level grade can significantly boost a UCAS application. Our tutors can focus specifically on the A-Level syllabus, helping your child master the exam technique and deeper subject knowledge needed to aim for the highest grades, making their application to competitive universities like Lancaster stand out.
What happens if we're not happy with the first lesson?
We want to make sure you find the perfect match for your child. If you don't get on with your tutor for any reason, just email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How do I choose the right German tutor for my child?
You can read detailed tutor profiles, watch their introductory videos, and check reviews from other parents. Many tutors have experience with specific exam boards or specialise in A-Level preparation. You can also message tutors beforehand to discuss your child's needs and make sure they're a great fit.
My child's confidence in German is low. How can a tutor help?
One-to-one tutoring is fantastic for building confidence. In a supportive, private setting, your child can ask questions without feeling embarrassed. Tutors celebrate small wins and break down difficult topics, like German word order, into manageable steps, which really helps your child feel more capable and in control.
How much does an online German tutor cost in Lancaster?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications, but you can easily filter tutors by price to find one that fits your budget. All pricing is shown clearly on their profiles, so there are no surprises.
How do you check your tutors are safe?
Your child's safety is our top priority. Every tutor is background-checked and has their ID and qualifications verified. We also interview tutors to ensure they have the right skills and attitude. With a 4.6-star rating from over 4,100 reviews, you can feel confident you're in safe hands.
How does online tutoring work?
It's simple! Lessons take place in our online classroom, which has a video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and document sharing. All your child needs is a laptop or computer with a webcam and a stable internet connection. It’s a convenient and effective way to learn from home.
Do you only offer tutoring for academic subjects like German?
Not at all! While we have fantastic tutors for core subjects from the 11+ right through to degree level, we also have experts who can help your child learn a musical instrument, master coding, or even prepare for a music theory exam. We're here to support all kinds of learning.
How often should my child have a lesson?
Most students have one 60-minute lesson per week, as this consistency really helps build momentum. However, it's completely flexible. You can arrange lessons as often as you and your child feel is needed, especially in the run-up to exams.
How can I track my child's progress?
Your tutor will provide regular feedback on how your child is doing. You can also message your tutor at any time to discuss their progress. Many parents find this open communication really reassuring and helpful.
How do you check your tutors are safe?
We understand that life gets busy. You can easily reschedule or cancel a lesson with your tutor through the platform, as long as you give them at least 24 hours' notice. This flexibility is one of the key benefits our families love.
