Bringing Geography to Life
I have a strong, passionate and extensive interest in History. I believe that rather than it be a stodgy subject full of dates and events, it’s actually a living thing as it’s about people, how they thought what they thought and why they thought it and how all that impacts us today. My specialist interest lies in 19th and 20th Century History particularly the First World War - I visit the battlefields of France and Belgium at least twice a year. It's something I think anyone should undertake at least just once to try and appreciate the magnitude of what took place there - it's a moving experience. I a...

Creative Geography tutor
I am a Royal Holloway, University London graduate with a BA and MA, specialising in arts and humanities. I am very keen to help pupils to learn and fully understand what they might not get in a classroom environment. Whilst at school and even at university, I had one-on-one help and I would not have got the grades if it was not for this extra help. That is why I want to help those who may need the extra help to get the grades they want.I did my A levels at a school as opposed to a college and this gave me the experience to work with the lower parts of the school (junior and senior). I would help...

Richard H
Richard has been very helpful in the lead up to my A-Level Geography mocks - in 3 sessions we went over potential exam questions for the whole of the physical paper and the way he explains what the question is asking and the concepts within the specification is really useful! The way he teaches makes him easy to understand and to remember what he has said even after leaving the session! I would recommend him to anyone at any level of Geography as he is so clear and encouraging.

Brilliant Geography tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child is aiming for the Geography course at Durham University. Can a tutor really help with that level of competition?
Absolutely. Many of our A-Level Geography tutors are specialists in helping students secure places at Russell Group universities. They focus on developing the higher-level analytical and essay-writing skills needed to achieve the A* and A grades required for competitive courses, giving your child the best possible chance.
Are your tutors familiar with local geographical case studies relevant to County Durham?
Whilst our tutors are based across the UK, many are skilled at helping students integrate local examples to strengthen their answers. They can guide your child on how to research and apply case studies like the River Tees, the North Pennines AONB, or local regeneration projects to demonstrate deeper understanding in their exams.
Is online tutoring as effective as in-person for a subject like Geography?
Yes, and in many ways, it's better. Our online platform uses interactive whiteboards perfect for analysing maps, graphs, and satellite images. The biggest advantage is that your child in County Durham gets access to a far wider pool of expert A-Level specialists than is available locally, ensuring they find the perfect match.
What if my child doesn't click with the first Geography tutor we try?
Finding the right fit is everything. If the first session with a tutor isn't quite right, please email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk. We will happily cover the cost of your first lesson with a new tutor to ensure you find the perfect match for your child.
How are your Geography tutors vetted?
We're incredibly selective. We accept only 1 in 8 tutors who apply. Every tutor is interviewed, has their ID and qualifications checked, and undergoes a background check. Many are experienced teachers or examiners, so you can be sure your child is learning from a true professional.
My child also needs help with A-Level Maths. Can we find a tutor for that too?
Of course. We offer expert online tutoring in over 300 subjects, from core A-Levels like Maths and Chemistry to languages, music, and even coding. You can find specialist support for all your child's academic needs right here on our platform.
What A-Level exam boards do your tutors cover?
Our tutors have experience with all the major UK exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel, OCR, and WJEC. You can check a tutor's profile to see which boards they specialise in, ensuring their support is perfectly aligned with your child's school curriculum.
How quickly can we find a tutor for our child in County Durham?
Very quickly. You can browse tutor profiles, read reviews from other parents, and message tutors directly to find the right fit. Many families are able to find and book their first session within 24 hours, getting that crucial support started straight away.
How much does online Geography tutoring cost?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and level of study. Tutors set their own hourly rates, which are clearly displayed on their profiles. This allows you to find an experienced, high-quality tutor that fits within your family's budget.
Can a tutor help with the NEA (coursework) component of A-Level Geography?
Yes, our tutors can provide invaluable guidance for the Non-Examined Assessment (NEA). They can help your child refine their research question, structure their investigation, and improve their data analysis techniques, all whilst adhering to exam board rules on coursework assistance.
What equipment does my child need for an online lesson?
It's very simple. All your child needs is a laptop or computer, a stable internet connection, and a webcam with a microphone. Our online classroom runs directly in your browser, so there's no complex software to install.
What A-Level exam boards do your tutors cover?
That's one of the key benefits of online tutoring. Tutors offer flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends, so you can book sessions at times that don't clash with school, sports, or other commitments. You arrange times directly with your tutor to find what works best.
