Jen H
I would like to say a massive thank you to Jen, who has helped me through one of my toughest years at university. I had some obstacles thrown in my way but with the help of Jen and her dedication I was able to pass my final dissertation with flying colours. I honestly can’t thank Jen enough for taking the time to sit and work through my whole dissertation from top to bottom. She was able to plan her lessons around times that suited me, always showing up with new ideas and advice that helped me get to where I am today. Without Jen’s help I honestly believe I would still be in the same place I was over a year ago!! A thank you doesn’t even do the hard work Jen put in as justice!!

Brilliant Essay Writing tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child is applying to Oxford University. Can a tutor help with their personal statement?
Yes, absolutely. Many of our Essay Writing tutors have specific experience helping students craft compelling personal statements and admissions essays for competitive universities. They can help your child structure their thoughts, showcase their passion for their subject, and develop the sophisticated analytical voice that admissions tutors look for.
We're aiming for a top university. Can a tutor help my child develop their critical thinking skills?
Definitely. This is where one-to-one tutoring really excels. A tutor can work with your child on how to move beyond description to genuine analysis, helping them to question texts, form original arguments, and articulate their ideas with greater depth and confidence.
How do I choose the right Essay Writing tutor for my child?
It's a great question. We recommend looking at a few things on their profiles: their qualifications, their experience with the relevant age group (e.g., A-Level), and the reviews left by other parents. Many tutors also offer a short introductory chat so you and your child can see if they're a good fit before booking a lesson.
What if my child doesn't click with their first tutor?
We know how important the right connection is. That's why we have our First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How do online lessons work?
Our online classroom has everything your child needs for a great lesson, including a video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and a space to share documents. It’s a simple and effective way for your child to learn from an expert tutor, no matter where you are in Oxford.
How much does an Essay Writing tutor cost?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications. You can see each tutor's hourly rate clearly on their profile, allowing you to find an experienced tutor who fits your family's budget. There are no hidden costs or commitments.
Are the tutors background-checked?
Yes, your child's safety is our top priority. Every single tutor on our platform has passed an enhanced DBS background check before they can start teaching. We take safeguarding very seriously.
How does Tutorful ensure its tutors are high quality?
We're very selective because we know you want the best for your child. We personally interview every tutor and only 1 in 8 applicants make it onto our platform. This ensures your child is learning from a dedicated and knowledgeable expert.
How long will it take to see an improvement in my child's writing?
Every child learns at their own pace, but the one-to-one focus means progress can happen quickly. Many parents tell us they see a boost in their child's confidence and the quality of their work within just a few sessions.
Is tutoring just for academic subjects, or can my child learn other skills?
While we have fantastic tutors for core subjects like English and Maths, we also have experts in a huge range of other areas. Your child can learn anything from coding or playing the guitar to public speaking and new languages.
Can a tutor help with a specific exam board or text?
Yes. Our tutors have experience with all the major UK exam boards, like AQA and Edexcel. You can message a tutor before booking to confirm they are familiar with the specific curriculum or texts your child is studying at school.
My child's school is very competitive. Can a tutor help them manage the pressure?
Yes, a tutor can be a fantastic source of support. By providing a calm, encouraging space outside of school, a tutor can help your child build confidence, work through challenges at their own pace, and feel more in control of their learning, reducing stress.
