Creative Writing tutor
I am a Royal Holloway, University London graduate with a BA and MA, specialising in arts and humanities. I am very keen to help pupils to learn and fully understand what they might not get in a classroom environment. Whilst at school and even at university, I had one-on-one help and I would not have got the grades if it was not for this extra help. That is why I want to help those who may need the extra help to get the grades they want.I did my A levels at a school as opposed to a college and this gave me the experience to work with the lower parts of the school (junior and senior). I would help...
Roxy has been an absolutely wonderful tutor. She is warm, very engaging, and clearly highly competent. Our son genuinely loved his lessons with her and always looked forward to them, which says a lot. We could see his confidence grow, and his writing abilities improved noticeably over a short period of time. Roxy has a fantastic way of connecting with children while still challenging them and helping them make real progress. We are incredibly grateful for her support and would highly recommend her to any parent.

Matthew has been amazing with my son is building his confidence in his KS3 English & Creative Writing by skills. My son has ASD/PDA and is currently in home education, so I needed a patient and understanding tutor, who could also encourage my son and help him develop his existing writing skills / text. Feedback from my son is that Matthew is really knowledgable and is great at moving him beyond his comfort zone!

Ifa M
Life changing experience!
I would like to express my appreciation for Ifa’s exceptional teaching skills in helping my son learn English. Ifa brings a wonderful combination of fun, knowledge, and experience to every lesson, making the learning process both enjoyable and highly effective. She engages with my son attentively throughout the entire session, ensuring that he remains focused and motivated without even realising how much he’s learning.
What truly stands out is Ifa’s ability to explain complex concepts in a way that my son immediately grasps. No other teacher has been able to reach him as clearly as Ifa has, and I was genuinely impressed by how quickly he picked up many ideas he had previously struggled with.
Not only has my son made tremendous progress, but I’ve also learned from Ifa. She has shown me the best ways to support my son’s learning journey, tailored specifically to his individual needs. Her guidance has been invaluable, and I’m grateful for the positive impact she’s had on both of us.
Thank you, Ifa!

Brilliant Writing tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child hopes to study at Loughborough or Leicester. Can a tutor help with their UCAS personal statement?
Absolutely. Many of our Writing tutors have extensive experience helping students craft compelling personal statements that stand out. They can help your child structure their ideas, showcase their strengths, and write with confidence for their university applications.
My child attends John Ferneley College. Can we find a tutor familiar with the GCSE curriculum they follow?
Yes, you can. Our tutors specify which exam boards (like AQA, Edexcel, etc.) they have experience with on their profiles. You can easily find a tutor who understands the specific requirements of your child's GCSE English Language and Literature courses.
How do I choose the right Writing tutor for my child?
It's easy to find the perfect match. You can read detailed tutor profiles, watch introductory videos, and check reviews from other parents. We recommend messaging a few tutors to discuss your child's goals before booking a session to ensure you find the best fit.
What if my child doesn't click with their first tutor?
We know that the right student-tutor relationship is key. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How much does online Writing tuition cost in Melton Mowbray?
Our tutors set their own hourly rates, which you can see clearly on their profiles. Prices vary based on the tutor's experience and the level of study, giving you the flexibility to find excellent, affordable support that fits your family's budget.
How does online tutoring actually work?
It’s simple! All lessons take place in our purpose-built online classroom. It includes a video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and a space to share documents. All your child needs is a laptop or computer with a webcam, a microphone, and a stable internet connection.
Are all the tutors background-checked?
Yes, your child's safety is our top priority. Every single tutor is interviewed and has their ID and qualifications verified. They must also pass an enhanced DBS check before they can teach on our platform. We're very selective, accepting only 1 in every 8 tutors who apply.
How can a tutor help my child build confidence in their writing?
Confidence often comes from understanding. In a one-to-one setting, tutors can break down complex topics, like essay structure or grammar, into manageable steps. This personalised attention and positive reinforcement helps your child feel more capable and less anxious about writing.
What results can I expect from writing tuition?
While every child's journey is unique, our data shows that tutoring makes a real impact. In fact, 90% of our students improve by at least one grade. For GCSE students, this can mean an improvement of up to two grades, opening up more opportunities for their future.
Can tutoring help with specific areas like GCSE essay structure?
Definitely. That's one of the biggest benefits of one-to-one support. A tutor can dedicate entire sessions to mastering specific skills, whether it's planning a persuasive essay, improving sentence structure, or learning how to use punctuation effectively.
How long are the sessions and how often should my child have them?
Most sessions are one hour long, and most families find that one session a week is a great starting point. However, it's completely flexible. You can discuss what works best for your child's goals and your family's schedule directly with your chosen tutor.
Are all the tutors background-checked?
While we offer fantastic support for academic subjects like Writing, Maths, and Science, we also have tutors for a huge range of other skills. Your child could learn anything from creative writing and coding to playing the guitar or speaking a new language.
