Professional and inspiring Writing and English tutor
Maths is usually the subject students struggle with most at school mainly due to the lack of individual help during lessons. Students often don’t ask for help when faced with a topic they find hard and so they develop gaps in their learning, which in itself become problematic later on. In my opinion the first objective of private tutoring in maths should be to systematically deal with those gaps, which are usually identified within the first couple of lessons. Once the gaps are covered, we can then proceed to cover the necessary course material based on individual requirements.I have extensive e...

Matthew has been amazing with my son is building his confidence in his KS3 English & Creative Writing by skills. My son has ASD/PDA and is currently in home education, so I needed a patient and understanding tutor, who could also encourage my son and help him develop his existing writing skills / text. Feedback from my son is that Matthew is really knowledgable and is great at moving him beyond his comfort zone!

Life changing experience!
I would like to express my appreciation for Ifa’s exceptional teaching skills in helping my son learn English. Ifa brings a wonderful combination of fun, knowledge, and experience to every lesson, making the learning process both enjoyable and highly effective. She engages with my son attentively throughout the entire session, ensuring that he remains focused and motivated without even realising how much he’s learning.
What truly stands out is Ifa’s ability to explain complex concepts in a way that my son immediately grasps. No other teacher has been able to reach him as clearly as Ifa has, and I was genuinely impressed by how quickly he picked up many ideas he had previously struggled with.
Not only has my son made tremendous progress, but I’ve also learned from Ifa. She has shown me the best ways to support my son’s learning journey, tailored specifically to his individual needs. Her guidance has been invaluable, and I’m grateful for the positive impact she’s had on both of us.
Thank you, Ifa!

They'll work on structuring clear arguments and refining their written expression to help your child stand out.
Can a tutor help my child prepare a compelling UCAS personal statement for London universities like UCL or LSE?
Absolutely. A strong personal statement is crucial for university applications. Our writing tutors can guide your child through the entire process, from brainstorming ideas and structuring their narrative to refining their language and ensuring their statement truly reflects their aspirations for prestigious institutions like UCL or LSE.
How do I pick the best online writing tutor for my child?
We make it easy to find the right match. You can browse tutor profiles, read reviews from other parents, and even message tutors directly to discuss your child's specific needs before booking. Our platform highlights their experience, specialisms, and teaching style, helping you feel confident in your choice.
How much does online writing tutoring typically cost?
Tutor rates vary depending on their experience and qualifications, but you'll find a range of options to suit your budget. All tutor prices are clearly displayed on their profiles, so there are no surprises. You only pay for the lessons your child takes.
How does online tutoring work for writing?
Our online classroom is designed for effective learning. Your child and their tutor will communicate via video, and they can share documents, use a virtual whiteboard for brainstorming, and even collaborate on essay drafts in real-time. Are your online writing tutors vetted?
Yes, absolutely. We are incredibly selective, accepting only 1 in 8 tutors who apply. Every tutor undergoes a rigorous vetting process, including enhanced background checks (DBS checks) and interviews, so you can be completely reassured that your child is in safe and expert hands.
What if my child doesn't get along with their first tutor?
We want you and your child to find the perfect match. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
Can a tutor help my child with specific writing challenges like structuring essays or analysing texts?
Definitely. Our tutors are experts at breaking down complex writing tasks. Whether your child struggles with structuring a persuasive essay, developing strong arguments, or analysing quotes from a text like Macbeth, a tutor can provide targeted strategies and practice to overcome these specific hurdles.

It's especially effective for focused skill development, allowing your child to learn at their own pace in a comfortable environment.
