Science Tutor - I build student confidence through understanding and success
I love new challenges.I enjoy learning new things with my students.I have been tutoring for 12 years.I used to work in a primary school which was great fun.Now I teach children on a one to one basis which is great because I can really get to know them.I like to do a short, fun activity first with my lessons and then go on to do something more in depth but this depends on the child. Some children will only learn with short bursts of different activities.I usually finish with a game.I have knowledge of quite a few different exam boards and curriculums as I have worked with a few.I have worked with...

Need a bit of help with Science? I'm here to help.
I've started teaching KS3, KS4 and KS5 eleven years ago. I have had a lot of experience working with students. It has always been my aim to make my classroom practice accessible to all students regardless of their needs and would differentiate tasks and learning styles to cater for their needs. I would consider myself a creative teacher as I would always try to find practical hands-on ways to teach which would help SEN students to learn and relate to what the topics being studied. I have experience working both with large and small groups of people. Before going into teaching I was working in businesses...

Destiny B
I would highly recommend Destiny as a tutor. She has helped my daughter in getting ready for her Science GCSE'S so much. My daughter really struggles with Chemistry and Physics and Destiny has explained in a way that she understands. She has been patient and worked at a pace which is right for my daughter. Destiny is always prepared with the lesson content and is very fast to respond to messages. Excellent tutor!

Hasan S
Hassan has been tutoring my son on GCSE chemistry and biology for over 6 months now. I can’t recommend him highly enough. His sessions are engaging, tailored to the key parts of the curriculum where my son needs support, and my son is improving and on course to get 8/9s in both subjects.

Brilliant Science tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
Are your Science tutors physically located in Axminster?
Our tutors are not based in Axminster itself. Instead, we connect students in Axminster with top tutors from all over the UK via our online classroom. This gives your child access to a much wider range of specialists than would be available locally.
Is online tutoring as effective as in-person for a hands-on subject like Science?
Absolutely. Our online platform has interactive whiteboards, file sharing, and video chat, making it easy to work through diagrams, equations, and experiments visually. Tutors are experts at making online learning engaging and just as effective as being in the same room.
My child is fascinated by the Jurassic Coast. Can a tutor support that specific interest?
Yes, that's a brilliant example of how online tutoring excels! We can match your child with a tutor who has a passion for geology or biology and can create tailored lessons that connect curriculum topics directly to the unique scientific heritage on your doorstep.
What happens if my child doesn't get on with their first tutor?
Finding the right personality match is crucial. We have a first lesson guarantee, so if it doesn't feel like the perfect fit, just email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk. We'll be happy to cover the cost of your first session with a new tutor.
How do you vet your tutors?
We're very selective. Only 1 in 8 applicants make it onto our platform. Every tutor is interviewed by a member of our team, has their ID and qualifications verified, and undergoes a background check to ensure they are the best of the best.
How much does online Science tutoring cost for a student in Axminster?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and the level of study (e.g., GCSE, A-Level). You can see each tutor's hourly rate clearly on their profile, allowing you to find an expert who fits your budget. There are no hidden costs.
My child attends Axminster Community Academy. Can a tutor align with their schoolwork?
Of course. Our tutors are experienced in supporting the national curriculum. During your first session, you can discuss what your child is currently learning at school so the tutor can tailor their lessons to complement their classwork, help with homework, and prepare for school tests.
How flexible are the lesson times?
Very flexible. You can arrange sessions for evenings, weekends, or during school holidays – whatever works for your family's routine. Because you're not limited to tutors in your immediate area, you have a much wider choice of available times.
What equipment does my child need for online lessons?
It's simple. All your child needs is a laptop or computer, a stable internet connection, and a microphone. A webcam is also highly recommended for the best experience, as it helps the tutor and student build a strong rapport.
How will I know if my child is making progress?
You'll see it in their confidence and hear it in the way they talk about Science. Tutors provide regular feedback, and you can always message them to discuss your child's progress. The goal is not just better marks, but a genuine improvement in their understanding and self-belief.
My child needs help with Science, but can they also get support for Maths or English?
Yes, definitely. Many of our tutors are experts in multiple subjects. You can easily search for tutors who offer support across the core subjects, or find a different specialist for each. It's all about finding the right support for your child's needs.
Is tutoring only for students who are struggling?
Not at all. Tutoring is for any student who wants to build confidence, deepen their understanding, or be challenged further. We help students at all levels, whether they're aiming to secure a pass or pushing for the very top grades.
