Academic Russian Course Russian Tutor/Examiner
Students study all aspects of language learning. It is a balanced individually tailored course.I use super advanced materials and interactive platforms to develop skills. At each lesson we use phonetic exercises for articulation, grammar practice tests, listening, reading and writing exercises. Last year all students taking A level exams got either an A or an A*. Since 2010 there has not been a mark lower than A in GCSE and A level exams. Some students prefer to sit Russian as a Foreign Language tests. They also score quite high in their results.I support students with great materials, cultural knowledge...

I have been tutoring Russian for the last 25 years.
I have in particular come to understand the value of sharing learning objectives and success criteria with children. Knowing exactly what is expected and how they can achieve allows children to focus more clearly on tasks.Progression needs to be planned for, so that as children work and explore at their own pace, there is always something else ready to move them on and take them further in their learning. I also believe that differentiation and meeting varied learning styles are key to effective teaching and learning. Work should be set at an appropriate, but challenging, level. When I prepare...

Friendly, patient Russian tutor
I am a friendly, patient tutor of languages and music. I teach French and Russian (which I’ve studied to master’s level at the University of Bath, and to undergraduate level at the University of Oxford) and Latin and Classical Greek (which I took to A level equivalent). I also teach guitar (acoustic and electric), electric bass, and drums, which I’ve played semi-professionally in rock, folk and jazz bands, as well as music theory, which I think can be helpful for any musical style.I have several years’ experience of tutoring languages and music at a variety of levels from beginner onwards. I reall...
Ekaterina is friendly and encouraging and her lessons always feel lively and personal. She brings in real-life examples and cultural context that make learning the language much more interesting! I really enjoy how she mixes conversation practice with grammar and uses different resources like online quizzes, short texts, and discussions. I always come away feeling like I’ve learned something useful! :)

Elina K
Elina's lessons have been very helpful to me for multiple reasons. She's helped me a lot with improving my vocabulary, speaking confidence, and grammar. We've focused equally on all of these things and this has me progressing evenly in all areas.
Elina is very friendly and easy-going. This creates a positive environment where it's easy to learn. She's also a native Russian speaker, and so her understanding of Russian is obviously very advanced. Her English is great too, which makes things easier for a native English speaker like me, as she can translate Russian into English easily.

Brilliant Russian tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child wants to study Russian at the University of Nottingham. Can a tutor help with their application?
Absolutely. Many of our tutors have experience helping students with university applications. They can help your child develop their language skills to the required level and provide guidance on personal statements to showcase their passion and commitment, which is especially important when they haven't taken a formal A-Level.
Since Nottingham schools don't offer Russian GCSEs, how can a tutor help my child prove their ability?
A tutor can provide a structured learning path that mirrors a formal curriculum. They can help your child build a portfolio of work, prepare for proficiency tests, and develop a deep knowledge of Russian culture and language that demonstrates a level of study equivalent to, or even exceeding, standard qualifications.
How do I choose the right Russian tutor for my child?
You can view detailed profiles for each tutor, including their experience, qualifications, and reviews from other parents. We recommend watching their introduction video and messaging a few to find the perfect fit for your child's personality and learning style. With over 4,100+ reviews and a 4.6-star rating, you can feel confident in your choice.
What if my child doesn't click with their first tutor?
We know that the right fit is crucial for learning. That's why we have a First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor for any reason, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How much does online Russian tutoring cost?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications. You can see each tutor's hourly rate clearly on their profile, allowing you to find an experienced tutor that fits your family's budget. There are no hidden fees or contracts.
Are the tutors' backgrounds checked?
Yes, your child's safety is our top priority. Every tutor on our platform has passed a background check and has had their ID and qualifications verified by our specialist team. We are very selective, accepting only 1 in 8 tutors who apply.
How does online tutoring work?
It's simple! All lessons take place in our purpose-built online classroom, which features a video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and document sharing. All your child needs is a computer or tablet with a stable internet connection, a webcam, and a microphone.
How can a tutor help my child build confidence?
One-to-one attention from an expert can make a huge difference. In a supportive, private setting, your child can ask questions without feeling self-conscious. Tutors are brilliant at celebrating small wins and breaking down difficult topics, which helps build confidence that often carries over into their other school subjects.
Is this just for school subjects, or can my child learn other skills?
We offer tutoring for a huge range of skills beyond the curriculum! Whether your child wants to learn to play the guitar, get started with coding, or even take up a new craft, you can find expert tutors to help them explore their passions.
How often should my child have a lesson?
Most families find that one hour-long lesson per week is a great starting point. This provides consistency and allows your child to make steady progress. However, you can arrange sessions as frequently as you need with your tutor, especially in the run-up to an exam or application deadline.
Can we get help with conversational Russian for a family trip?
Yes, definitely. Our tutors can create fun, practical lessons focused on the conversational skills your family will need for a trip, from ordering food to asking for directions. It's a great way to prepare and get more out of your holiday.
