My daughter has been having tutoring session with Jo for some time now, her reading has improved so much in that time. My daughter can be quite shy but she settled with Jo very quickly and she makes the lesson engaging and fun.Would recommend to anyone who needs some help for their child who is behind at school.

Eleanor B
Great first 'getting to know' lesson. Ellie helped Monty warm to the idea of tutoring by tapping nicely into his interests (he said afterwards that he really liked her) . He is positive about having another session next week. It was good that they could discuss his current school book; I think this is going to help him.

Within 5 minutes of specking to Hannah, I knew she was going to be my son’s tutor. She’s personable, passionate and knows her industry inside out. We’ve only had 2 lessons, but I can see the confidence and enjoyment on my son’s face as he’s learning. My son said after his 2nd lesson, ‘Hannah is so calm and I’m really enjoying tutoring’. We are actually so blessed to have found Hannah.

Nic H
Nic is a very experienced teacher who is able to adapt to different children, with an array of tools up her sleeve to keep the child engaged. After every lesson Nic is very good at telling me what they went through and what we should be focusing on. I think I am even learning myself on letter formation!
My daughter is a high functioning autistic person in reception, who needs to close some gaps in her phonics, numbers and handwriting. The leap from reception to year 1 can be difficult and Nic is helping me to get my daughter to a level where she will feel stable with the transition.
I was worried that a 1hr lesson would be too hard for my daughter and that she would not be engaged. My daughter is fully engaged and I am very impressed with what my daughter can achieve in her lesson.

Brilliant Reading tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child's school is very demanding. Can a tutor help them keep pace?
Absolutely. Many parents in Shoreditch use our tutors to provide extra support alongside a fast-paced curriculum. A tutor can help reinforce what's taught in class, fill in any gaps, and build your child's confidence so they feel ready and able to contribute.
We're worried about competitive secondary school admissions. Can a tutor help?
Yes, many of our tutors are experienced in preparing children for 11+ and other entrance exams. They can focus on developing the specific reading comprehension and verbal reasoning skills needed to help your child perform at their best.
How do I choose the right Reading tutor for my child?
You can view tutors' profiles, watch their introduction videos, and read reviews from other parents. We recommend messaging a few to discuss your child's needs before booking. Finding someone your child connects with is the most important first step.
How much does online Reading tutoring cost in Shoreditch?
Our tutors set their own hourly rates, typically starting from around £20 per hour. You can filter tutors by price to find an expert who fits your budget, with no hidden fees or contracts.
What if we don't click with the first tutor?
We want to make sure you find the perfect match. That's why we offer a First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How are your tutors vetted?
We take safety and quality very seriously. Every tutor is background-checked and must pass an interview to assess their expertise and teaching ability. We only accept 1 in every 8 tutors who apply, so you can be sure you're choosing from the best.
How can a tutor help my child feel more confident?
Confidence often comes from understanding. In a one-to-one setting, there are no 'silly questions'. Tutors create a safe, encouraging space for your child to ask for help, make mistakes, and master topics at their own speed, which is a huge confidence booster.
How do online lessons work?
Our online classroom has everything your child needs for a great lesson, including a video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and a way to share documents. It's a simple, effective, and convenient way for your child to learn from home.
How quickly will I see an improvement in my child's reading?
Every child learns differently, but consistency is key. Many parents tell us they see a boost in their child's confidence and engagement after just a few sessions. Our data shows that 90% of our students improve by at least one grade.
Can I track my child's progress?
Yes. The best way is to have a quick chat with your tutor. They can provide regular feedback on how your child is doing, what they've been working on, and the plan for upcoming sessions. It's a partnership between you, your child, and the tutor.
What age groups do your Reading tutors work with?
Our tutors support learners of all ages, from helping young children with their first phonics and building a love for books, right through to helping teens with advanced comprehension for their GCSEs and A-Levels.
Is it just for school subjects, or can my child learn creative skills too?
While we're experts in academic subjects, we also have brilliant tutors for hobbies and creative skills. You can find tutors for everything from coding and graphic design to learning a musical instrument like the guitar.
