Eleanor B
Great first 'getting to know' lesson. Ellie helped Monty warm to the idea of tutoring by tapping nicely into his interests (he said afterwards that he really liked her) . He is positive about having another session next week. It was good that they could discuss his current school book; I think this is going to help him.

Hannah B
Within 5 minutes of specking to Hannah, I knew she was going to be my son’s tutor. She’s personable, passionate and knows her industry inside out. We’ve only had 2 lessons, but I can see the confidence and enjoyment on my son’s face as he’s learning. My son said after his 2nd lesson, ‘Hannah is so calm and I’m really enjoying tutoring’. We are actually so blessed to have found Hannah.

Nic H
Nic is a very experienced teacher who is able to adapt to different children, with an array of tools up her sleeve to keep the child engaged. After every lesson Nic is very good at telling me what they went through and what we should be focusing on. I think I am even learning myself on letter formation!
My daughter is a high functioning autistic person in reception, who needs to close some gaps in her phonics, numbers and handwriting. The leap from reception to year 1 can be difficult and Nic is helping me to get my daughter to a level where she will feel stable with the transition.
I was worried that a 1hr lesson would be too hard for my daughter and that she would not be engaged. My daughter is fully engaged and I am very impressed with what my daughter can achieve in her lesson.

Brilliant Reading tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child is at Welland Park Academy. Can a tutor help them prepare for the demands of GCSEs at Robert Smyth Academy?
Yes, absolutely. Many of our tutors specialise in helping students make the transition to secondary school and prepare for the step-up to GCSEs. They can build the foundational reading and comprehension skills your child will need to confidently tackle the more demanding curriculum.
We're worried our child might fall behind peers aiming for the local independent schools. Can a tutor help?
It's a common concern, and we can certainly help. A tutor provides dedicated, one-to-one attention to identify and strengthen any areas of weakness in your child's reading. This focused support helps build their skills and confidence, ensuring they can keep pace and feel positive about their own progress.
What if we don't click with the first tutor?
We know that the right fit is crucial for learning. That's why we have our First Lesson Guarantee. If you feel the first tutor isn't the right match for your child, simply email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover the cost of your first session with a new tutor.
How do I choose the right Reading tutor for my child?
It's simple. You can use our search filters to find tutors with specific experience, such as teaching primary-level phonics or GCSE text analysis. You can also watch their introductory videos, read reviews from other parents, and send them a message to discuss your child's needs before you book.
How much does online Reading tutoring cost in Market Harborough?
The price of tutoring varies depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications. Our tutors set their own rates, so you can easily find someone who fits your budget. Prices are clearly displayed on each tutor's profile with no hidden costs.
Can a tutor really help my child build confidence?
Yes, it's one of the biggest benefits we see. In a one-to-one setting, your child has a safe space to ask questions they might be too shy to ask in class. A great tutor celebrates small wins and helps them see their own progress, which is fantastic for their self-esteem.
Are all your tutors background-checked?
Yes, your child's safety is our top priority. Every single one of our tutors undergoes a thorough vetting process, including an identity and background check. We are very selective and only accept 1 in 8 tutors who apply to our platform.
How does online tutoring work?
All our lessons take place in our purpose-built online classroom. It features video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and the ability to share documents. It's a simple, effective, and convenient way for your child to learn from the comfort of home.
How quickly will I see an improvement in my child's reading?
Every child learns at their own pace, but our data shows that 90% of students improve by at least one grade with our tutors. The consistent, personalised support of one-to-one tuition often helps children make progress more quickly than they would in a classroom alone.
What reading levels do your tutors cover?
We have tutors who can help at every stage, from teaching phonics and early reading in Key Stage 1, right through to building comprehension for 11+, analysing complex texts for GCSEs and A-Levels, and even supporting degree-level study.
Do lessons have to follow the school curriculum?
Not at all. While tutors can certainly help with schoolwork and follow the curriculum, they can also create a bespoke plan to focus on a specific area, like building reading speed, improving comprehension, or simply helping your child learn to love reading for pleasure.
Is tutoring just for school subjects, or can my child learn other things?
While we have fantastic tutors for academic subjects like Reading, Maths, and Science, we also have experts who can teach a huge range of other skills. Whether your child wants to learn to play the guitar, get started with coding, or learn a new language, we have a tutor who can help.
