Eleanor B
Great first 'getting to know' lesson. Ellie helped Monty warm to the idea of tutoring by tapping nicely into his interests (he said afterwards that he really liked her) . He is positive about having another session next week. It was good that they could discuss his current school book; I think this is going to help him.

Hannah B
Within 5 minutes of specking to Hannah, I knew she was going to be my son’s tutor. She’s personable, passionate and knows her industry inside out. We’ve only had 2 lessons, but I can see the confidence and enjoyment on my son’s face as he’s learning. My son said after his 2nd lesson, ‘Hannah is so calm and I’m really enjoying tutoring’. We are actually so blessed to have found Hannah.

Nic H
Nic is a very experienced teacher who is able to adapt to different children, with an array of tools up her sleeve to keep the child engaged. After every lesson Nic is very good at telling me what they went through and what we should be focusing on. I think I am even learning myself on letter formation!
My daughter is a high functioning autistic person in reception, who needs to close some gaps in her phonics, numbers and handwriting. The leap from reception to year 1 can be difficult and Nic is helping me to get my daughter to a level where she will feel stable with the transition.
I was worried that a 1hr lesson would be too hard for my daughter and that she would not be engaged. My daughter is fully engaged and I am very impressed with what my daughter can achieve in her lesson.

Brilliant Reading tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
Can a tutor help my child prepare for the demands of schools like Ormiston Venture Academy or Great Yarmouth Charter Academy?
Yes, absolutely. Our tutors can help build a strong foundation in reading comprehension, vocabulary, and critical analysis, which are essential skills for the transition to secondary school. They can work with your child to build their confidence and ensure they feel ready for the new academic challenges.
My goal is for my child to attend East Norfolk Sixth Form College. How can a Reading tutor help?
Strong reading and comprehension skills are vital for success at A-Level and beyond. A tutor can help your child master the analysis and interpretation skills needed across many subjects, strengthening their GCSE performance and, in turn, their application for college.
How do I find the right Reading tutor for my child in Great Yarmouth?
It's simple. You can use our search filters to find tutors with the right experience for your child's age and needs. You can read their profiles, watch introductory videos, and check reviews from other parents. Plus, you can message them before booking to make sure they're a great fit.
How much do online Reading tutors cost?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and level of study. Tutors set their own rates, which are displayed clearly on their profiles, so you can find an experienced tutor that fits your family's budget. There are no hidden fees or contracts.
How can a tutor help my child feel more confident in their reading?
Confidence often comes from understanding. In a one-to-one session, your child has a safe space to make mistakes and ask questions without fear of judgement. Tutors celebrate small wins and break down difficult topics, helping your child see that they are capable of improving, which is a huge confidence booster.
Are your tutors background-checked?
Yes, your child's safety is our top priority. All our tutors have been interviewed and have had their ID and qualifications checked. Tutors who wish to teach students under 18 must also provide an enhanced DBS check.
What if my child doesn't click with their first tutor?
We know that the right personal connection is key to learning. That's why we have our first lesson guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How does online tutoring work? Is it effective for Reading?
Our online classroom has everything your child needs for an engaging lesson, including video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and document sharing. For Reading, this means they can analyse texts together, highlight key passages, and work on exercises in real-time. It's a proven and effective way to learn.
How do I know if my child is making progress?
Our tutors provide regular feedback to help you stay informed about your child's progress. You can also message your tutor at any time to discuss how things are going and review their goals. Seeing your child's growing confidence in their schoolwork is often the clearest sign of progress.
Is Tutorful just for core school subjects, or can my child learn other skills?
While we cover all academic subjects, we also have amazing tutors for a huge range of other skills! Whether your child wants to learn to play the guitar, get started with coding, or practise a new language, you can find an expert tutor to help them explore their passions.
How long are the tutoring sessions and how often should my child have them?
Sessions are typically one hour long. Most families find that one session per week is a great rhythm for consistent progress, but the frequency is completely up to you. You can discuss what's best for your child with your chosen tutor.
What happens in a typical online Reading lesson?
Every lesson is tailored to your child. A tutor might start by reviewing a school text your child finds tricky, then move on to an activity to build vocabulary, and finish by practising comprehension techniques. The focus is always on your child's specific goals in a supportive and engaging way.
