We can't speak highly enough of Siobhan, we felt so lucky to have found her! She completely surpassed our expectations, and both the family and the school noticed a marked improvement in Charlotte’s understanding, focus, and confidence. Our story in brief: we wanted to arrange for a tutor for Charlotte during the lead up to SATs. Charlotte was feeling quite daunted by the pressure around SATs, not to mention the complex nature of some of the work (- we certainly weren’t able to help with much of it!!) Siobhan’s approach was perfect. She is clearly extremely well versed in all areas of Key Stage 2, but crucially – she is also very clear, patient, warm, kind, encouraging, down to earth, and calm. Siobhan created a lovely environment for Charlotte’s learning and Charlotte particularly appreciated Siobhan’s consultative/ tailored approach. In their first meeting, Siobhan encouraged Charlotte to take ownership of her sessions, inviting Charlotte to share her thoughts on how their time could be most usefully spent. For example, Charlotte would sometimes ask to revisit topics covered at school, for more explanation and practice. This gave Charlotte great peace of mind if she felt unsure during a lesson at school, as she knew she could pick this up later with Siobhan, in a more intimate and relaxed 1:1 setting. We weren’t sure at first if online tutoring would be as effective as in person sessions, but Siobhan and Charlotte formed a lovely bond and rapport – pretty much straight away! And Siobhan makes full use of the technology to make her lessons interactive and fun. In summary, Charlotte went from not even wanting to talk about SATs in December, to breezing through them come May. And this is in no small part down to Siobhan’s expertise, professional integrity, and loving support. Thank you so much Siobhan, we hope to cross paths again!
