Creative Photography tutor
I have my (2.1) BA in English Literature from The University of Sheffield and have been an online tutor for two years. To date, I've taught over 3,000 lessons, from KS1 to A-Level which has enabled me to adapt my teaching style and content to different students. For example, when I tutored a student with ADHD I increased the number of activities while reducing the length to ensure they remained engaged with the lesson.Conversely, when tutoring one of my A-Level students with anxiety, I slowed the lesson pace and used fewer activities to reduce stress. In lessons, I predominately use visual learning...

I started working with Jamie 4 months ago when I was struggling with A-Level photography. He is incredibly supportive and clear in aspects that I could improve on to meet exam criteria and his dedication towards helping me to improve is extremely evident. I have weekly sessions with Jamie and he has always been very flexible. These weekly sessions have always been tailored to my needs and what I feel will benefit me the most. His feedback is always specific and his guidance has allowed me to secure a top grade in my January mocks. I would highly recommend Jamie to anyone needing support or wanting to push their coursework further.

Clara C
Clara is a really great teacher for Photography A Level. My daughter needed help with the essay part of her course. I knew she would be good when I read about her experience but she has a lovely manner and way of teaching as well. Clara was also equally as good when she needed help with her Art A-Level essay.

How can a Photography tutor help my child's application to competitive colleges like Hills Road?
An expert tutor can provide immense value here. They can help your child develop a standout portfolio that showcases not just technical skill but also creative thinking and a unique perspective – qualities that admissions tutors at competitive colleges look for. They provide guidance on curating their best work and presenting it professionally.
Is Photography A-Level a 'serious' enough subject for top universities?
Absolutely. A strong grade in Photography A-Level demonstrates creativity, critical analysis, project management, and technical proficiency. Many top universities, including Cambridge for certain courses, value creative subjects as they show a well-rounded and versatile candidate. A tutor can help your child excel and articulate the value of these skills.
How does online tutoring work for a practical subject like Photography?
It works incredibly well! Tutors use screen sharing to demonstrate editing software, analyse photos in detail, and provide live feedback. Students can share their work instantly for critique. It also teaches them vital digital literacy skills, preparing them for how creative industries operate today.
My child is inspired by Cambridge's architecture. Can a tutor help them build a portfolio around it?
What a fantastic idea! Yes, a tutor can absolutely help structure a project like that. They can guide your child on capturing the unique lines, light, and history of Cambridge's buildings, helping them create a cohesive and impressive portfolio with a strong local theme.
What happens if my child doesn't click with their first tutor?
We know that the right connection is key. That's why we have our first lesson guarantee. If you don't get on with your first tutor for any reason, just email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How do you vet your Photography tutors?
We're very selective – only 1 in 8 applicants make it onto Tutorful. Every tutor is background-checked, and we interview them to ensure they have both the subject expertise and the passion for teaching needed to inspire students. Many are professional photographers or experienced teachers.
How much do online Photography lessons cost for a student in Cambridge?
Our tutors set their own rates, typically starting from £15 an hour. Prices vary based on the tutor's experience and level of expertise. You can easily filter by price on our website to find a brilliant tutor who fits your family's budget.
Can tutoring help with GCSE or A-Level coursework and exams?
Yes, completely. Our tutors are experienced with the curriculum for major exam boards. They can help your child understand assessment objectives, develop their coursework portfolio, refine their critical studies, and prepare effectively for any written exams.
Do you offer tutoring for subjects other than Photography?
We do! We have expert tutors across more than 300 subjects, from core academics like maths and English to other creative arts, music, and even coding. You can find all the support your child needs right here on Tutorful.
How many lessons will my child need?
This is completely flexible and depends on your child's goals. Some students have a weekly session to build skills over time, whilst others might book a few intensive lessons to prepare for an exam or complete a project. You can discuss the best approach directly with your chosen tutor.
What equipment does my child need for online Photography tutoring?
All they need is a laptop or computer with a webcam and microphone, a stable internet connection, and their camera (which can even be a good quality phone camera to start). Our online classroom has all the tools needed for an interactive lesson.
How much do online Photography lessons cost for a student in Cambridge?
