Hi, I’m Umar - a final year medical student with years of tutoring experience (both online and in-person)!I like to get to know my students well in order to find an approach that works best for them, rather a one-size-fits-all approach that is neither understandable nor fun to learn. A typical lesson with me would involve a quick assessment of your understanding of a topic or skill, followed by an explanation and demo. After that, most of the lesson will be spent doing questions together; letting you take the lead and only intervening when you get stuck. I find this approach to be much more engaging a...

Zohra M
Enthusiastic Maths Tutor
Hi! I am Zohra and I am currently studying Biochemistry at University. To be completely honest Biology was my least favourite Science out of the three - funnily enough it forms the majority of my degree. It was very challenging in the beginning but I can assure you that it does get easier, only by having patience and consistently putting in hard work!I studied for my A Levels during the pandemic when we had online lessons which was a challenge to get used to but from this experience. I can empathise with the feeling of online studying and working on your own as I have been in your shoes before!...

Maths English, Science, Phonics, SATs
Hi! I’m a fully qualified UK primary teacher with over five years of classroom experience, and I now specialise in 1:1 tutoring for children aged 5–11. I’ve taught every year group from Reception to Year 6 and have helped many children grow in confidence — especially in phonics, maths, reading and SATs preparation.I started tutoring because I’ve seen first-hand how personalised support can unlock a child’s potential. I remember one Year 3 pupil who struggled with writing; by breaking tasks into small steps, using visuals and positive reinforcement, she went from reluctant writer to story-lovin...
Chris has really helped me so far in year 13 with maths. He explains and breaks down difficult concepts in a way that is easy to understand and goes through exam questions which is very useful. I would really recommend him to other A level maths students.

Jack R
We’ve had a fantastic experience with Jack as a maths tutor - so far my daughter had three sessions with him. Jack is an excellent communicator and explains concepts clearly and step-by-step, making even the all topics feel manageable. His lessons are well-structured and thoughtfully tailored to my daughter’s needs (we aim for confidence in class and confident GCSE mark).
Jack is also incredibly friendly and positive, which creates a really encouraging learning environment - one of my key requirements. My daughter genuinely enjoys her lessons with him and is already feeling much more confident in her maths curriculum. Highly recommended!

Brilliant Maths tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
We're aiming for a place at Ilford County High or Woodford County High. Can a tutor help with the 11+ Maths exam?
Yes, absolutely. Many of our tutors are specialists in 11+ and entrance exam preparation. They understand the format of the exams for Redbridge grammar schools and can help your child build the specific skills and confidence needed to perform at their best.
My child is worried about getting into the top sets at their Redbridge secondary school. How can a tutor help?
A tutor can provide targeted support to help your child feel confident and prepared for their secondary school Maths lessons. By working on specific topics they find tricky, filling any knowledge gaps, and building their self-belief, a tutor can help them secure a place in a higher set.
How do I choose the right Maths tutor for my child?
It's simple to find the perfect match on our platform. You can browse tutor profiles, watch their introductory videos, read reviews from other parents, and filter by experience with specific exams like the 11+ or GCSEs. You can also message tutors beforehand to make sure they're the right fit for your child's personality and learning goals.
What if my child doesn't click with their first tutor?
We know that the right relationship is key to learning. That's why we have our First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How do online lessons actually work?
Our online classroom is designed to be as engaging as being in the same room. It includes a live video chat, an interactive whiteboard for working through problems together, and the ability to share documents and past papers. It's a simple, secure, and effective way for your child to learn.
Are the tutors background-checked?
Yes, your child's safety is our top priority. Every tutor on our platform is background-checked and has their ID verified. We are also very selective, accepting just one in every eight tutors who apply, so you can be sure your child is learning from the best.
How can tutoring help if my child has lost their confidence in Maths?
Confidence is often the biggest hurdle. In a one-to-one setting, there's no fear of asking 'silly' questions. A tutor can go back to basics, explain concepts in a new way, and celebrate small wins. This patient, personalised support can transform how your child feels about Maths.
How much does a Maths tutor in Redbridge cost?
Our tutors set their own hourly rates, which are displayed clearly on their profiles. Prices vary based on the tutor's experience and the level of study. This allows you to find an experienced, high-quality tutor that fits within your family's budget.
What kind of results can I expect?
We're proud that 90% of students who use Tutorful improve by at least one grade, and we've helped over 200,000 students achieve their goals. The biggest result parents tell us about, however, is seeing their child become a happier, more confident learner.
How often should my child have a lesson?
Most families find that one lesson a week is a great starting point for consistent progress. However, the frequency is completely up to you and can be adjusted based on your child's needs, whether they need a boost before an exam or ongoing weekly support.
Do you only offer academic subjects, or can my child learn other skills?
While we have fantastic tutors for core subjects like Maths, English, and Science, we also offer a huge range of other skills. Your child could learn anything from coding and Python to playing the guitar or speaking a new language.
How do I pay for lessons?
Paying for lessons is simple and secure. Your payment details are stored safely on your account, and you are only charged 24 hours after a lesson has been completed. There are no sign-up fees or hidden costs.
