Carmen G
During my lessons with Carmen, she was very patient with me when I made errors and mistakes. She didn't judge or reprimand me at all, and instead made me feel confident and comfortable with speaking Spanish. As I am studying the A-Level Spanish course, she would give me extra material to study which relates to the exam topics, and give me practice in speaking, writing and listening. It was a lovely experience and I hope to book her again.

Carol G
Carol is brilliant! She clearly knows her subject inside out and tailors the lessons and homework excellently, too, often adapting ‘on the go’ -as stuff comes up, that leads to interesting tangents of related learning on the subject. She is really friendly …. and interesting, too, with fascinating life experiences, like living in Ibiza for years with her kids when younger. Highly recommended by me? Yes indeed! Look no further, you’ve found a brilliant tutor who provides incredibly good value one to one teaching!

Brilliant Languages tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
We're hoping for a place at Carmel College. Can a tutor help with that?
Yes, absolutely. Many of our tutors are experienced in helping students secure places at their first-choice colleges. They can focus on strengthening your child's GCSE performance in Languages, ensuring they have the grades and confidence needed to make a strong application.
My child is aiming for a Russell Group university like Liverpool or Manchester. How can a Languages tutor support this?
A strong Languages A-Level or GCSE is highly regarded by Russell Group universities. A tutor can help your child develop the deeper analytical and communication skills that these institutions look for, building a solid foundation that goes beyond just passing exams and helps their application stand out.
How do I choose the right Languages tutor for my child?
It's simple to find a great match. You can browse tutor profiles, read reviews from other parents, and watch their introductory videos to get a feel for their teaching style. You can even message a few tutors for free to chat about your child's goals before booking a lesson.
What if my child doesn't click with their first tutor?
We know that the right fit is important. If you don't get on with your tutor for any reason, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How much does online Languages tutoring cost in St Helens?
Our tutors set their own hourly rates, so you can find an experienced tutor who fits your family's budget. Prices are clearly displayed on each tutor's profile, so there are no hidden costs.
How do online lessons work?
All lessons take place in our online classroom, which is designed for one-to-one learning. It includes a video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and a space to share documents. It’s a simple and effective way for your child to learn from home.
Are the tutors background-checked?
Yes, your child's safety is our top priority. We interview every tutor and all of our tutors must have a valid DBS check. We're very selective and only accept 1 in 8 tutors who apply to our platform, so you can be sure your child is in safe hands.
How can a tutor help my child build confidence?
Sometimes, a lack of confidence is the biggest barrier to learning. In a one-to-one setting, your child has a safe space to ask questions without feeling embarrassed. Tutors provide constant encouragement and celebrate small wins, which makes a huge difference to how your child feels about the subject.
How long will it take to see an improvement?
Every child learns at their own pace, but the focused, one-to-one support of tutoring often leads to progress quite quickly. In fact, 90% of students who use Tutorful improve by at least one grade.
Can we get help with specific exam boards for GCSE French or Spanish?
Yes. Our tutors have experience with all the major UK exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel, and OCR. You can check a tutor's profile to see which exam boards they specialise in or message them to ask directly.
Is tutoring just for school subjects, or can my child learn something new?
While we help thousands of students with academic subjects, we also have expert tutors for hobbies and life skills. So whether your child wants to learn to play the guitar, get started with coding, or even learn a new language for fun, we can help.
Are the tutors background-checked?
Every lesson is tailored to your child. A tutor might start by reviewing homework, then move on to explaining a tricky grammar point using the interactive whiteboard, before finishing with some practice conversation to prepare for a speaking exam. It's all about what your child needs most at that moment.
