Well-rounded tutor of Classical Guitar and Rock Guitar
Hello all. I've been playing the piano since I was just 4 years old and took this passion all the way to study music at Manchester University and play at a diploma level. Along the way I've picked up other instruments such as the electric guitar and drums and play in bands regularly. I've also learnt about music technology and have a small studio space at my home which I utilise regularly in my teaching and spare time. All these things I like to think make me a well-rounded musician. On the piano I am classically trained but can also teach about the basics of jazz and blues. My approach lies in not...

Jonah S
Jonah is very easy to work with. He seems to genuinely be interested in helping me and my progress . He challenges without being pushy, and in the short time I’ve spent with him, I’ve already grown as a guitarist. He also has a wide range of knowledge in every area that pertain to me producing my own music. Very highly recommended!

Jonathan W
Jonathan is an excellent guitar tutor. I started with Jonathan as a complete beginner and I feel that I am progressing with each session. Each session Jonathan goes through, theory, answers questions and reviews what I have been practicing over the previous week. At the end of each session Jonathan documents what I need to work on over the next week. He offers encouragement and always has multiple hints, tips and advice to improve my guitar playing. Jonathan is very patient and has a passion for guitar playing. I would highly recommend him as a tutor, whether you are a beginner or more advanced.

Farrokh K
Farrokh has been a great electric guitar teacher to me for the last 4-5 weeks. In the hour that the lesson lasts, i believe i learn just enough so i can practice for the rest of the week. I started taking lessons with Farokh because i always wanted to know how to play an instrument, moreover i picked music for my GCSEs which i will be starting in September. The pace of the lesson is never necessarily too fast or too slow, if so i can just ask to slow down. Overall, i really recommend! :-)

How can online guitar tutoring fit into our busy Cambridge schedule?
Online guitar lessons offer incredible flexibility. Your child can learn from home, saving travel time and allowing you to schedule sessions around school, extracurricular activities, and family commitments, making it easier to balance their passion with a demanding academic schedule in Cambridge.
Will learning guitar detract from my child's academic focus for university applications in a city like Cambridge?
Absolutely not. Many universities, including those in Cambridge, value well-rounded applicants. Learning an instrument like the guitar demonstrates discipline, creativity, time management, and dedication – all highly desirable qualities that can enhance, rather than detract from, your child's academic profile and personal statement. Our tutors help your child integrate this passion positively.
Is Tutorful only for academic subjects, or can my child learn skills like guitar or coding?
Tutorful offers a wide range of subjects beyond traditional academics! Whether your child wants to master the guitar, learn to code, develop a new language, or explore a hobby, you can find expert tutors ready to help them achieve their goals and develop new skills.
What if my child doesn't get along with their first guitar tutor?
We want your child to have the best possible learning experience. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How do I choose the right online guitar tutor for my child?
We encourage you to browse tutor profiles, read reviews from other parents, and even message a few tutors to discuss your child's goals. Look for someone whose teaching style and experience align with your child's needs and personality. Our platform makes it easy to find a great match.
How much do online guitar lessons typically cost?
Tutor rates vary depending on their experience and qualifications, but you'll find a range of options to suit your budget. You can see each tutor's hourly rate clearly on their profile, allowing you to choose the best fit for your family.
What kind of progress can my child expect with a guitar tutor?
With personalised, one-to-one lessons, your child can expect to see significant progress tailored to their pace. Whether it's mastering new chords, improving technique, understanding music theory, or building confidence to play songs, our tutors help set achievable goals. In fact, 90% of students improve by at least one grade or level of understanding.
Are your online guitar tutors background-checked and qualified?
Yes, absolutely. We take tutor vetting very seriously. We only accept 1 in 8 tutors who apply, and every tutor on our platform undergoes a thorough background check and qualification verification process, ensuring your child learns in a safe and supportive environment.
How do online guitar lessons actually work?
Online lessons take place in our virtual classroom, which has an interactive whiteboard, video, and chat functions. Your child and their tutor will connect at a scheduled time, just like a face-to-face lesson, but from the convenience of your home. It's designed to be engaging and user-friendly.
Can a guitar tutor help my child with specific techniques or genres?
Definitely. Our tutors are skilled in a wide array of guitar techniques and genres, from classical and acoustic to electric and rock. Whether your child wants to learn fingerpicking, strumming patterns, improvisation, or explore jazz or blues, a tutor can tailor lessons to their specific interests.
Is online learning effective for a practical skill like guitar?
Yes, it's very effective! Online lessons allow for real-time feedback and demonstrations, often using multiple camera angles to show hand positions clearly. The focus on one-to-one interaction ensures your child gets undivided attention, making it a highly productive way to learn a practical skill like guitar.
