Why A-Level Further Maths Matters (And Why It's Tough)
Competitive universities like Oxford, Cambridge, and Imperial rate Further Maths highly, especially for courses like engineering, physics, computer science, economics. It shows mathematical maturity and proves you can handle analytical thinking under pressure.
If you're struggling, it's not that you're not good enough. It's that Further Maths changes the rules. Suddenly, matrices won't multiply the way you expect, and group theory asks you to prove things about algebra rather than just solve equations. Then there's calculus (Maclaurin series, polar integration, and the lot), where one small mistake early on ruins the entire answer.
Regular school lessons move quite quickly, too. Miss something in October and you're still trying to catch up in June, all while keeping on top of your other A-Levels.
