Jilly is a real find! For my very dyslexic and dyspraxic 17-year-old son, developing skills in English has been incredibly hard. Although he has enjoyed learning some subjects and done well in these GCSEs with the help of a scribe, the punishing experience of so many years spent learning to read and write left him with very low confidence when it comes to English, and his skills have lagged far behind his ability. Jilly is the first teacher in any context to understand how to help him turn this around. From the very first lesson, she tapped into his interests to show him how to make use of what he already knew and to build on it quickly. That sounds obvious, doesn't it? But none of the very clever and experienced people who went before Jilly could quite get it right. They tried hard and meant well, but I think they forgot to believe in him. Now, with Jilly, my son comes with enthusiasm to each of his English sessions and is making quick progress. That's a first in almost 14 years of schooling. I share Jilly's confidence that he will achieve a GCSE or other Level 2 qualification in English in the next year. More importantly, my son believes that is possible too. I cannot thank Jilly enough. I recommend her so very highly.
