Professional and inspiring French and English tutor
Maths is usually the subject students struggle with most at school mainly due to the lack of individual help during lessons. Students often don’t ask for help when faced with a topic they find hard and so they develop gaps in their learning, which in itself become problematic later on. In my opinion the first objective of private tutoring in maths should be to systematically deal with those gaps, which are usually identified within the first couple of lessons. Once the gaps are covered, we can then proceed to cover the necessary course material based on individual requirements.I have extensive e...

Effective French tutor
I am friendly, approachable and experience tutor in Literature, Languages and Humanities. I started tutoring soon after finishing my Joint Honours degree in English and French at Magdalen College, Oxford, but fortunately I found that my education had only just started! Therefore, I have spent over a decade now working with students - both in state and private education - in French, English Literature, Classics and History of Art. Tutoring normally from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5, specialising in GCSEs and A levels, I would say that my lessons are usually planned collaboratively. I take the student’s l...

Enthusiastic (and patient) tutor of French Tutor for all levels
Hi I have always loved French and have a natural flair and feel for it, so, naturally, I went on to study it atUniversity. My particular course gave me the opportunity to work in both France and Switzerland so I got to experience how people really work and live in both these places.I also travelled widely during my placements to experience the culture and understand the identity of the locals. My family and I have now returned to the UKafter more than 12 years of living and working in Paris. In fact, both my children were born in Paris. I am keen to maintain their level in French so regularly tutor...

Genevieve M
Genevieve is a fantastic tutor. She is extremely engaging to learn from, explaining everything very patiently and clearly, and she has a really good sense of humour. I’m particularly impressed by the effort she puts in to prepare extra learning materials for me between classes based on the specifics of what I struggled with in the previous lesson. I really didn’t expect that level of additional work from her, it’s so thoughtful and helpful. I intend to be learning French up to conversational fluency so I need many, many hours of teaching, and I am therefore very glad I chose Genevieve to deliver them as she makes the time fly by.

Brilliant French tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child is aiming for a competitive sixth form in Tower Hamlets. Can a tutor help with this?
Yes, absolutely. We know how high the standards are for places like Mulberry Academy Shoreditch. A tutor can provide targeted support to help your child achieve the specific GCSE grades needed, strengthening their overall application and building their confidence for the step up to A-Levels.
We're worried about the speaking part of the French GCSE. How can an online tutor help?
This is a very common concern, as it's hard to get one-to-one speaking practice in a busy classroom. An online tutor provides a safe, supportive space for your child to practise conversation, improve their pronunciation, and build the fluency they need to feel confident in their exam.
How do I choose the right French tutor for my child?
It's easy to find the perfect match. You can browse tutor profiles to see their experience, qualifications, and read reviews from other parents. You can also message tutors for free before booking to ask any questions and make sure they're a great fit for your child's personality and learning style.
What if we don't click with the first tutor?
We want to make sure you have the best possible experience, which is why we offer a First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How much does an online French tutor cost?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications, but you can easily filter your search to find someone who fits your budget. All pricing is shown clearly on the tutors' profiles, so there are no hidden costs.
Are your tutors safe to work with my child?
Your child's safety is our top priority. Every tutor is background-checked and must pass a rigorous application process. We only accept 1 in every 8 tutors who apply, so you can be sure your child is in safe, expert hands.
How do online lessons actually work?
Our online classroom has everything your child needs for a great lesson, including video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and the ability to share documents. It's a simple and effective way for your child to learn from the comfort of your own home.
How often should my child have a lesson?
This is completely up to you and depends on your child's goals. Most families find a weekly one-hour session works well, especially when preparing for exams like GCSEs, but you can arrange a schedule that fits your needs directly with your tutor.
Can tutoring really help my child's confidence?
Yes, it can make a huge difference. One-to-one tutoring provides a safe space where your child can ask questions without feeling embarrassed. This personalised attention helps them understand topics properly, and as their understanding grows, so does their confidence.
What French exam boards do your tutors cover?
Our tutors have experience with all major UK exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel, and OCR. You can see which exam boards a tutor specialises in on their profile, ensuring you find someone with the right expertise for your child's specific course.
How quickly can we start lessons?
You can get started very quickly. Simply find a tutor you like, send them a message to arrange a time, and you could be having your first lesson within a day or two. It's designed to be simple and flexible.
How do online lessons actually work?
We offer tutoring for a huge range of pursuits beyond the school curriculum. Whether your child wants to learn to play the guitar, get started with coding, improve their chess skills, or even learn a new instrument, we have expert tutors to help them explore their passions.
