French Learning Made Fun
I hold a BA Honours Degree in German and French with Spanish as an extra subject, and I also hold a teaching certificate from Germany. Besides, I am a German native speaker and have lived and worked in France, which means that I can provide students with intricacies that you normally only acquire when you live in the foreign country. Teaching languages is my passion as I believe it opens a whole new world for the student, and I feel that I relate well to learners of all ages. I have over 25 years of experience tutoring on a one-to-one basis as well as groups, and in the past, I also taught evening...

Kathy F
Creative French tutor
I am a Royal Holloway, University London graduate with a BA and MA, specialising in arts and humanities. I am very keen to help pupils to learn and fully understand what they might not get in a classroom environment. Whilst at school and even at university, I had one-on-one help and I would not have got the grades if it was not for this extra help. That is why I want to help those who may need the extra help to get the grades they want.I did my A levels at a school as opposed to a college and this gave me the experience to work with the lower parts of the school (junior and senior). I would help...

Dedicated French tutor
I am a determined person with an always positive attitude towards working. I enjoy working with other people as well as helping them to achieve their goals- for example, I always peer assess my colleagues essays before they submit them. I am seriously thinking about embarking upon a masters in either TESOL or archives and records management before qualifying to become either a teacher of English to foreign speakers or an archivist- both careers interest me greatly. Furthermore, I have recently completed a nine month placement in central France teaching English to primary school children aged 4-11,...

’ve had a really great experience learning French with Sandrine. She listens to my needs and adapts lessons to suit what I want to work on, which helps a lot. She’s supportive, patient, and never makes me feel like I’m not good enough, which has really built my confidence. I’d definitely recommend her, especially for A-level French students.

Genevieve M
Genevieve is a fantastic tutor. She is extremely engaging to learn from, explaining everything very patiently and clearly, and she has a really good sense of humour. I’m particularly impressed by the effort she puts in to prepare extra learning materials for me between classes based on the specifics of what I struggled with in the previous lesson. I really didn’t expect that level of additional work from her, it’s so thoughtful and helpful. I intend to be learning French up to conversational fluency so I need many, many hours of teaching, and I am therefore very glad I chose Genevieve to deliver them as she makes the time fly by.

Brilliant French tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child is aiming for a top sixth form after Ermysted's/Skipton Girls'. Can a tutor help them secure the necessary French grade?
Absolutely. Our tutors are experienced in helping students achieve the high grades needed for competitive sixth form entry. They can focus specifically on the syllabus requirements and exam techniques that will help your child stand out and meet those tough entry requirements.
Are your tutors familiar with the standards expected at Skipton's top grammar schools?
Many of our tutors have experience supporting students from high-achieving academic environments. You can view each tutor's profile, read their reviews, and even message them before booking to discuss their experience with the GCSE curriculum and helping students aim for top grades.
How do I choose the right French tutor for my child?
It's all about finding the right fit. You can read detailed profiles, watch introduction videos, and check reviews from other parents. We recommend messaging a few tutors to discuss your child's specific needs before you book. Finding someone your child connects with is the first step to success.
What if my child doesn't click with their first French tutor?
We know that the right student-tutor relationship is key. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How do you make sure tutors are safe to work with?
Your child's safety is our top priority. Every single one of our tutors has been through a rigorous selection process, including an interview and a background check. We only accept 1 in 8 tutors who apply, so you can be confident your child is in safe, expert hands.
How much does online French tutoring cost?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications. Tutors set their own hourly rates, which are clearly displayed on their profiles, so you can find an experienced tutor that fits your budget. There are no hidden fees or contracts.
How does online tutoring actually work?
It's simple! All lessons take place in our purpose-built online classroom. It features video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and document sharing, allowing your child and their tutor to work together just as they would in person. All you need is a laptop or computer and a stable internet connection.
Can a tutor help my child with their confidence in speaking French?
Yes, this is one of the biggest benefits of one-to-one tutoring. The private, supportive space of a lesson is the perfect place for your child to practise speaking without the fear of making mistakes in front of a whole class. This can make a huge difference to their confidence.
Can we get help with specific parts of the French GCSE, like the oral exam?
Of course. The beauty of one-to-one tuition is that it's completely tailored. Your child's tutor can dedicate entire lessons to preparing for the speaking exam, working on pronunciation, fluency, and confidence until they feel fully prepared.
How quickly will we see an improvement?
Every child learns at their own pace, but our experience shows that consistent, personalised support makes a real difference. Many parents tell us they see a boost in their child's confidence after just a few sessions, which is the foundation for academic improvement.
Do you only offer academic subjects like French?
While we have thousands of tutors for core subjects like Maths, English and Science, we also offer a huge range of other skills. Whether your child wants to learn to play the guitar, get into coding, or pick up a new hobby, you can find a brilliant tutor for it on Tutorful.
