I hold a BA Honours Degree in German and French with Spanish as an extra subject, and I also hold a teaching certificate from Germany. Besides, I am a German native speaker and have lived and worked in France, which means that I can provide students with intricacies that you normally only acquire when you live in the foreign country. Teaching languages is my passion as I believe it opens a whole new world for the student, and I feel that I relate well to learners of all ages. I have over 25 years of experience tutoring on a one-to-one basis as well as groups, and in the past, I also taught evening...

Kathy F
Creative French tutor
I am a Royal Holloway, University London graduate with a BA and MA, specialising in arts and humanities. I am very keen to help pupils to learn and fully understand what they might not get in a classroom environment. Whilst at school and even at university, I had one-on-one help and I would not have got the grades if it was not for this extra help. That is why I want to help those who may need the extra help to get the grades they want.I did my A levels at a school as opposed to a college and this gave me the experience to work with the lower parts of the school (junior and senior). I would help...

Genevieve M
Genevieve is a fantastic tutor. She is extremely engaging to learn from, explaining everything very patiently and clearly, and she has a really good sense of humour. I’m particularly impressed by the effort she puts in to prepare extra learning materials for me between classes based on the specifics of what I struggled with in the previous lesson. I really didn’t expect that level of additional work from her, it’s so thoughtful and helpful. I intend to be learning French up to conversational fluency so I need many, many hours of teaching, and I am therefore very glad I chose Genevieve to deliver them as she makes the time fly by.

Brilliant French tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child is at Kirkbie Kendal School. Can a tutor help them aim for a grade 7 in French?
Absolutely. Many of our tutors are GCSE specialists and have experience helping students target specific grades. You can view their profiles, see their experience, and even message them before booking to ensure they are the right fit to help your child achieve their goals.
We're worried a weak French GCSE will affect my child's application to Kendal College. Can tutoring help?
Yes, this is a common reason parents come to us for support. A tutor can help close any knowledge gaps, build your child's confidence, and improve their exam technique. By strengthening their French grade, you are strengthening their overall application for A-Levels and other post-16 pathways.
How do I choose the right French tutor for my child?
It’s easy to find the perfect match. You can filter tutors by their experience, price, and availability. We recommend watching their introductory videos and reading reviews from other parents. You can also send a message to a tutor to discuss your child's needs before you book a lesson.
How much do online French tutors in Kendal cost?
Our tutors set their own prices, with rates starting from £15 per hour. The price often reflects their experience and qualifications. You can easily filter by price to find a brilliant tutor who fits your family's budget.
What if my child doesn't click with their first tutor?
We know how important the right fit is. That's why we have our First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How does online tutoring actually work?
It's simple! All lessons take place in our purpose-built online classroom. It includes a video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and a space to share documents. It’s a secure and effective way for your child to learn from the comfort of your home.
My child has lost all confidence in French. How can a tutor help?
This is where one-to-one tutoring really shines. A tutor creates a safe, encouraging space where your child can work at their own pace without the pressure of a classroom. By celebrating small wins and breaking down difficult topics, they can help rebuild your child's self-belief.
Are your tutors' backgrounds checked?
Yes, your child's safety is our top priority. All our tutors are background-checked and we interview every single one. We are very selective, accepting only 1 in 8 tutors who apply to our platform.
How quickly will we see an improvement in their French grades?
Every child learns differently, but consistency is key. Our data shows that 90% of students who have regular lessons improve by at least one grade. The personalised attention helps them make progress much faster than they would in a classroom alone.
What qualifications do your French tutors have?
Our tutors come from a wide range of backgrounds, including qualified teachers, university lecturers, and native French speakers. You can see all of their qualifications and experience listed clearly on their profile.
Do you only offer academic subjects, or can my child learn something like guitar or coding?
We offer a huge range of subjects beyond the school curriculum. Whether your child wants to learn to play the guitar, get started with coding, or even learn a new language for fun, we have expert tutors who can help them explore their interests.
My child has lost all confidence in French. How can a tutor help?
That's the great thing about online tutoring. You're not limited to tutors in your immediate area, so you have a much wider choice of available times. You can find a tutor who can fit lessons around your child's school commitments and other activities.
