Kathy F
Creative French tutor
I am a Royal Holloway, University London graduate with a BA and MA, specialising in arts and humanities. I am very keen to help pupils to learn and fully understand what they might not get in a classroom environment. Whilst at school and even at university, I had one-on-one help and I would not have got the grades if it was not for this extra help. That is why I want to help those who may need the extra help to get the grades they want.I did my A levels at a school as opposed to a college and this gave me the experience to work with the lower parts of the school (junior and senior). I would help...

Genevieve M
Genevieve is a fantastic tutor. She is extremely engaging to learn from, explaining everything very patiently and clearly, and she has a really good sense of humour. I’m particularly impressed by the effort she puts in to prepare extra learning materials for me between classes based on the specifics of what I struggled with in the previous lesson. I really didn’t expect that level of additional work from her, it’s so thoughtful and helpful. I intend to be learning French up to conversational fluency so I need many, many hours of teaching, and I am therefore very glad I chose Genevieve to deliver them as she makes the time fly by.

Brilliant French tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child is aiming for a competitive school in Trafford. Can a tutor help with this?
Yes, absolutely. We understand the high standards required for entry and progression in Greater Manchester's grammar and top comprehensive schools. Our tutors can create a tailored plan to help your child master the French curriculum, build exam technique, and develop the confidence needed to perform at their best.
We're worried about my child's application to universities like Manchester or Leeds. Can a French tutor help?
Definitely. A strong A-Level French grade supported by tutoring can really make an application stand out. A tutor can help your child develop a deeper understanding of the subject, prepare for interviews, and articulate their passion for the language, which is exactly what top universities look for.
How do I choose the right French tutor for my child?
You can browse our tutors' profiles, watch their introduction videos, and read reviews from other parents. We recommend shortlisting a few and sending them a message to discuss your child's specific needs before booking. Finding someone your child connects with is the most important step.
How can a tutor help my child with their French speaking confidence?
This is one of the biggest benefits of one-to-one tuition. The online lesson provides a safe, encouraging space for your child to practise speaking without fear of making mistakes in front of a class. Tutors use conversation-based exercises to build fluency and correct pronunciation gently.
What happens if we don't get on with our first tutor?
We want to make sure you find the perfect match for your child. Because of our First Lesson Guarantee, if you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How much do online French tutors in Greater Manchester cost?
Our tutors set their own rates, which you can see clearly on their profiles. Prices vary based on the tutor's experience and the level of study, from primary school to degree level. You can easily filter by price to find a great tutor who fits your budget.
What qualifications do your tutors have?
Our tutors include qualified teachers, university lecturers, and subject matter experts. We have a strict vetting process and only accept 1 in 8 tutors who apply, so you can be sure your child is learning from the best. All tutors are also background-checked for your peace of mind.
Do you only offer academic subjects, or can my child learn other skills?
While we offer expert support for core subjects like French, Maths, and English, we also have tutors for a huge range of other interests. Your child could learn to play the guitar, get help with coding in Python, or even take up a new language for fun.
How does the online classroom work?
Our online classroom is simple to use and designed for one-to-one learning. It includes a video chat, an interactive whiteboard for sharing notes and working through problems together, and a document sharing feature. All your child needs is a laptop or computer and a stable internet connection.
How long are the tutoring sessions?
The standard lesson length is one hour. We find this gives enough time to cover a topic in depth without your child losing focus. You can discuss different arrangements directly with your chosen tutor if needed.
Can a tutor help if my child has fallen behind in French?
Yes, this is a very common reason parents come to us. A tutor can quickly identify the specific areas where your child is struggling, whether it's tenses or listening skills, and create a plan to help them catch up and feel confident in class again.
What qualifications do your tutors have?
Most families find that one session per week is ideal for consistent progress. However, the frequency is completely up to you. You might want more sessions in the run-up to an exam or fewer during school holidays. You can arrange a schedule that works for your family directly with your tutor.
