Enthusiastic (and patient) tutor of French Tutor for all levels
Hi I have always loved French and have a natural flair and feel for it, so, naturally, I went on to study it atUniversity. My particular course gave me the opportunity to work in both France and Switzerland so I got to experience how people really work and live in both these places.I also travelled widely during my placements to experience the culture and understand the identity of the locals. My family and I have now returned to the UKafter more than 12 years of living and working in Paris. In fact, both my children were born in Paris. I am keen to maintain their level in French so regularly tutor...
Polly is amazing! My daughter is doing Alevel French and was really struggling with confidence when speaking. She’s had 3 lessons with Polly and it’s already made such a difference. I would highly recommend. 🥰

Genevieve M
Genevieve is a fantastic tutor. She is extremely engaging to learn from, explaining everything very patiently and clearly, and she has a really good sense of humour. I’m particularly impressed by the effort she puts in to prepare extra learning materials for me between classes based on the specifics of what I struggled with in the previous lesson. I really didn’t expect that level of additional work from her, it’s so thoughtful and helpful. I intend to be learning French up to conversational fluency so I need many, many hours of teaching, and I am therefore very glad I chose Genevieve to deliver them as she makes the time fly by.

Brilliant French tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child is worried about competing with students from St Dunstan's and the Dulwich schools. Can a tutor help?
Absolutely. This is a common concern for parents, and it's where one-to-one tutoring can really level the playing field. A private tutor provides the personalised attention and focused support that isn't always possible in a larger class, helping your child master the curriculum and build the confidence to aim for those top 8 and 9 grades.
We're hoping for a top London university like King's or UCL. Can a tutor help with the A-Level transition?
Yes. Our tutors are brilliant at not only securing great GCSE results but also building the skills and deeper understanding needed for A-Level French. By establishing a strong foundation now, a tutor can prepare your child for the step-up to sixth form, making them a much stronger university applicant in the future.
How do I choose the right French tutor for my child?
It's simple. You can read detailed tutor profiles, watch introductory videos, and check reviews from other parents. We recommend messaging a few tutors to discuss your child's specific goals before booking. Finding someone your child connects with is the most important first step.
How do online lessons work?
Our online classroom has everything your child needs for a great lesson, including a video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and a space to share documents. It’s a simple and effective way for your child to learn from home, at a time that works for you.
How can I be sure the tutors are safe and qualified?
Your child's safety is our top priority. Every tutor is background-checked and must pass a thorough interview process to assess their expertise and teaching skills. We are very selective, accepting only 1 in every 8 tutors who apply, so you can be sure your child is in great hands.
What if my child doesn't click with their first tutor?
We know that the right fit is crucial for learning. That's why we have a First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How much does a French tutor cost?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications. You can see each tutor's hourly rate clearly on their profile, allowing you to find an experienced tutor who fits your family's budget. There are no hidden fees or extra costs.
Can tutoring help my child with their confidence?
Yes, this is one of the biggest benefits we see. In a one-to-one setting, your child has a safe space to ask questions and work at their own pace without fear of being judged. This personal support often leads to a huge boost in self-belief that extends beyond French.
What happens in a typical French lesson?
Every lesson is tailored to your child's needs. A tutor might spend the session reviewing a tricky grammar point, working on essay-writing skills for a specific exam question, or simply practising conversational French to build fluency and confidence before an oral exam.
How long will it take to see an improvement?
It varies from student to student, but the benefit of one-to-one support is that progress can happen quickly. Many parents tell us they see a positive change in their child's confidence and attitude towards a subject in just a few weeks.
How flexible are the lesson times?
Very flexible. Our tutors manage their own schedules, so you can easily find a time that works for your family, whether it's after school, in the evening, or at the weekend. You can arrange everything directly with your chosen tutor.
How much does a French tutor cost?
While we help thousands of students with academic subjects like French, Maths, and English, we also have expert tutors for a huge range of other skills. Your child could learn to play the guitar, get help with coding, or even learn a new craft.
