Experienced French tutor
I’m an experienced tutor who graduated from Oxford University with a first class degree in English Language and Literature - words are my thing, so if you’re looking for help in your English, French, or Drama studies then I’d be delighted to help.My favourite thing about tutoring is getting to make key interventions in a student’s experience at such an exciting and important time - whatever level they’re studying, I want to meet my pupils where they’re at and build their confidence, motivation, and revision techniques. These are skills for life, not just for exams! I have over 250 hours of tutoring...
Bonjour!:)I am a native French speaker and a fully qualified teacher with 26 years experience of teaching in schools and privately. I am also a GCSE examiner each year and I used to be a AS level examiner for AQA too. I teach the right accent: this is part of how you can become a confident speaker and an efficient listener.I also explain how verbs and grammar work and help you practice with relevant, interesting resources. It's easier to learn if you understand the rules and the tricks. You then become more confident and try more and memorize better.I use various teaching methods according to each...

Enthusiastic (and patient) tutor of French Tutor for all levels
Hi I have always loved French and have a natural flair and feel for it, so, naturally, I went on to study it atUniversity. My particular course gave me the opportunity to work in both France and Switzerland so I got to experience how people really work and live in both these places.I also travelled widely during my placements to experience the culture and understand the identity of the locals. My family and I have now returned to the UKafter more than 12 years of living and working in Paris. In fact, both my children were born in Paris. I am keen to maintain their level in French so regularly tutor...

Genevieve M
Genevieve is a fantastic tutor. She is extremely engaging to learn from, explaining everything very patiently and clearly, and she has a really good sense of humour. I’m particularly impressed by the effort she puts in to prepare extra learning materials for me between classes based on the specifics of what I struggled with in the previous lesson. I really didn’t expect that level of additional work from her, it’s so thoughtful and helpful. I intend to be learning French up to conversational fluency so I need many, many hours of teaching, and I am therefore very glad I chose Genevieve to deliver them as she makes the time fly by.

My child wants to apply to a competitive London university. Can a tutor help with this?
Yes, absolutely. A strong grade in a modern foreign language like French can significantly strengthen a UCAS application. A tutor can help your child master the curriculum to achieve the top grades needed to make their application stand out to prestigious Russell Group universities.
The standards at schools like The Latymer School are high. Can I find a tutor to match that?
Yes. Many of our tutors are highly experienced in helping students aim for top grades (8-9s at GCSE). You can view their profiles to see their qualifications and experience, and even message them beforehand to ensure they are the right fit for your child's ambitious goals.
How do I pick the right French tutor for my child?
It's easy to find the perfect match. You can use our filters to find tutors with the right experience, then read reviews from other parents. We recommend messaging a few tutors to explain your child's goals before booking to find someone you feel comfortable with.
How much does online French tutoring cost in Edmonton?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications, but you can set a budget that works for you. Our tutors set their own rates, giving you a wide range of options to choose from. You can see the price per hour clearly on each tutor's profile.
Can a tutor really help my child build confidence?
Definitely. One-to-one tutoring provides a safe, encouraging space where your child can ask questions without feeling embarrassed. This personalised attention helps them overcome hurdles and see their own progress, which is a huge confidence booster.
What happens in a typical online French lesson?
Lessons are tailored to your child's needs. They might work on tricky grammar points, practise exam techniques, or build conversational skills for their speaking test. Our online classroom has an interactive whiteboard, file sharing, and video chat to make learning engaging and effective.
Are all the tutors background-checked?
Yes, your child's safety is our top priority. Every tutor on our platform has passed an ID check and has an up-to-date DBS or background check. We are very selective, accepting only 1 in 8 tutors who apply.
Can tutoring help my child improve their GCSE French grade?
Yes, it can make a big difference. Our data shows that we can help students improve their GCSE results by up to 2 grades. A tutor can focus on the specific areas of the curriculum your child finds difficult, helping them turn weaknesses into strengths.
What if my child doesn't get on with their first tutor?
We want to make sure you find the perfect fit, which is why we have our First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How long are the online tutoring sessions?
Most sessions are one hour long, as this is usually the most effective length of time for a student to stay focused. However, you can discuss your needs directly with the tutor, as many offer different session lengths.
How will I know if my child is making progress?
You'll see it in their growing confidence and their school results. Tutors also provide regular feedback, so you'll always be kept in the loop about what they're working on and how your child is progressing towards their goals.
Are all the tutors background-checked?
We offer a huge range of subjects beyond the school curriculum! Whether your child wants to learn coding, play the guitar, or pick up a new hobby, you can find experienced tutors to help them explore their interests.
