Jen H
I would like to say a massive thank you to Jen, who has helped me through one of my toughest years at university. I had some obstacles thrown in my way but with the help of Jen and her dedication I was able to pass my final dissertation with flying colours. I honestly can’t thank Jen enough for taking the time to sit and work through my whole dissertation from top to bottom. She was able to plan her lessons around times that suited me, always showing up with new ideas and advice that helped me get to where I am today. Without Jen’s help I honestly believe I would still be in the same place I was over a year ago!! A thank you doesn’t even do the hard work Jen put in as justice!!

Brilliant Essay Writing tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child hopes to study at the University of Leeds. Can a tutor help with their UCAS personal statement?
Absolutely. Many of our Essay Writing tutors are highly experienced in helping students craft compelling UCAS personal statements. They can guide your child on how to structure their statement, showcase their strengths, and articulate their passion for their chosen subject, which is crucial for competitive applications.
The academic standards at schools like GSAL and Roundhay are high. Can I find a tutor experienced with this?
Yes. You can view each tutor's profile to see their experience, including the exam boards and levels they specialise in. Many have specific experience helping students meet the high standards required for top grades at academically focused schools, helping your child build the advanced skills they need to stand out.
How do I choose the best Essay Writing tutor for my child?
It's all about finding the right fit. You can read reviews from other parents, check a tutor's qualifications and experience, and even watch their introductory video to get a feel for their teaching style. We recommend messaging a few tutors to discuss your child's goals before booking a session.
What if my child doesn't click with their first tutor?
We know that the right student-tutor relationship is key to success. That's why we have our First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How much does an Essay Writing tutor in Leeds cost?
Our tutors set their own rates based on their experience and qualifications, so you can find an option that fits your budget. Prices are clearly displayed on each tutor's profile, so you'll always know the cost upfront. There are no hidden fees.
How does online tutoring work?
It's simple! All lessons take place in our purpose-built online classroom. It features a video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and a space to share documents. This allows your child and their tutor to work on essays together in real-time, just as they would in person, but with the convenience of learning from home.
Are all the tutors background-checked?
Yes, your child's safety is our top priority. Every single one of our tutors has passed an enhanced background check. We are very selective, and only 1 in 8 tutors who apply are accepted onto our platform, so you can be confident your child is in safe, expert hands.
How can a tutor help my child feel more confident about their writing?
Confidence often comes from understanding. In a one-to-one setting, your child has a safe space to ask questions they might not ask in class. Tutors can break down complex ideas into manageable steps, celebrate small wins, and provide constructive, positive feedback, which really helps to build self-belief.
Can a tutor help with a specific part of Essay Writing, like structuring an argument?
Definitely. The beauty of one-to-one tutoring is that it's completely tailored to your child. Whether they need help with planning, structuring arguments, improving their vocabulary, or mastering their referencing, their tutor can create lessons that focus on the exact areas where they need the most support.
How long does a typical tutoring session last?
The standard lesson length is one hour, which most families find works perfectly. However, you can discuss your child's needs with your chosen tutor, as some may offer different session lengths to suit different ages and concentration spans.
How often should my child have a lesson?
Most students have one session per week, as this provides consistency and allows them to build momentum. However, the frequency is completely up to you and can be arranged with your tutor. You might want more sessions leading up to an exam, or fewer during school holidays.
Do you only offer academic subjects, or can my child learn other skills?
While we're here to help your child excel in academic subjects like Essay Writing, English, and Maths, we also have amazing tutors for a huge range of other skills! Your child could learn anything from coding and Python to playing the guitar or speaking a new language.
