Experienced English Tutor - KS3, GCSE, A level, University
Welcome to my profile. I'm an experienced online tutor, who has been teaching English Language & Literature, and Religious Studies online since 2013. I am a fully qualified teacher with a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education. While I am a passionate tutor of each of these two subjects individually, more importantly I feel that my experience in each subject contributes something to the other. For example, my knowledge of Biblical and Greek mythological references from my study of world religions is often really useful when interpreting certain texts by Shakespeare or other non-contemporary writers....

Josh L
Josh has been tutoring my son for several weeks now. When asking my son what he thought of the sessions she shared that the lessons were varied and he makes it interesting and fun, ( My Son is in year 10 - age 14) We were looking for a tutor to help my son with his English as he had a difficult year last year with his teacher and it became a dread and a stress. Having Josh tutoring him has given him more confidence in the subject. He is keen to have the lesson and always comes down afterwards and shares something good about it. He seems to be progressing well at school and I know these sessions can only be helping with that.

Grace B
My daughter worked with Grace as she wanted to re-take her English Language GCSE to improve her grade. My daughter thought Grace was a fantastic teacher. After her first lesson she said she had learnt more in an hour with her than she had in her previous two years at school! She has a lovely friendly manner and put my daughter at ease straight away. She also puts a lot into the lessons through preparation, marking and generally guiding the learning where it's needed most. As an examiner herself she also has a clear understanding of what students need to work on to succeed. Couldn't recommend her highly enough and whether or not my daughter does improve her grade, I know that the lessons were worthwhile. Thank you Grace!

John M
John has been nothing short of a miracle worker with our Year 9 son. In a matter of a few lessons his confidence in English has really grown. He was previously really disengaged with English & it was a real effort to get him to spend any amount of time on it. Now with John’s encouragement, he actually shows me his English homework & wants to improve, work at it. Highly recommend

Brilliant English tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child is preparing for the Warwickshire 11+ exam. Can I find a tutor with specific experience?
Yes, absolutely. Many of our English tutors have specific experience helping children prepare for the 11+ entrance exams, including the verbal reasoning and comprehension sections common in the Warwickshire test. You can check each tutor's profile for their experience and even message them to ask about their approach.
We're aiming for top English GCSE grades for applications to universities like Warwick or Birmingham. Can a tutor help with this?
Yes. A great English grade is vital for competitive courses. Our tutors can help your child master the GCSE curriculum, from analysing poetry to perfecting essay technique. They can help your child improve their GCSE results by up to two grades, giving them a stronger foundation for A-Levels and university applications.
How do I find the right English tutor in Coleshill for my child?
You can use our search filters to find tutors who specialise in the right level, from primary to A-Level. Read their profiles, check their reviews from other parents, and watch their introduction videos to get a feel for their personality. You can also message tutors for free before booking to ensure they're the perfect fit.
How much does online English tuition cost?
The price for tutoring is set by each individual tutor based on their experience and qualifications. You'll find that rates vary, so you can easily browse and find an expert tutor who fits your budget. All pricing is shown clearly on their profiles with no hidden costs.
How can a tutor help my child build confidence?
Sometimes, a lack of confidence is the biggest barrier to learning. In a one-to-one session, your child has a safe space to ask questions they might not ask in class. Tutors provide constant encouragement and celebrate small wins, which helps your child see their own progress and feel more capable.
Are all your tutors background-checked?
Yes, your child's safety is our absolute priority. Every single tutor on our platform has passed a background check before they can start teaching. We are very selective and only accept 1 in 8 tutors who apply, so you can be sure your child is in safe, expert hands.
What happens in a typical online English lesson?
Lessons take place in our purpose-built online classroom, which includes an interactive whiteboard, video chat, and file sharing. A tutor might work through a tricky piece of homework with your child, practise exam questions, or focus on a specific area they're struggling with, like spelling and grammar or essay structure.
What if we don't click with the first tutor we try?
It's really important that your child feels comfortable with their tutor. That's why we have a first lesson guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How do online lessons work?
It's simple. All you need is a computer or tablet with a webcam, a microphone, and a stable internet connection. Lessons happen in our online classroom, which is designed to make learning collaborative and engaging, just as if you were in the same room.
How many students have used Tutorful?
You're in good company! We've helped over 200,000 students find the perfect tutor to help them achieve their learning goals. We're proud to have over 4,100 customer reviews with an average rating of 4.6 stars.
How long will it take to see an improvement?
Every child learns at a different pace, so it varies. However, with consistent, personalised support, many parents notice a boost in their child's confidence quite quickly. Our data shows that 90% of students improve by at least one grade with regular tuition.
Do you only offer academic subjects, or can my child learn other skills too?
While we have expert tutors for all core academic subjects, we believe in learning for life! You can also find brilliant tutors who can help your child learn a musical instrument like the guitar, get started with coding, or even build confidence with public speaking.
