Apart from the scheduled lessons, John takes the time to review my son's school work to ensure he is confident and can excel at school. John also goes through optimal writing strategies during the tutor sessions that my son can transfer to what he is learning in class.

Harry L
Our son has dyslexia and had taken his GCSE English several times without passing. He was demoralized with the whole process. We had 6 weeks before the next attempt and we were lucky enough to find Harry. He said that in his first lesson with him he had learnt more about exam technique than he had in all of his GCSE lessons. Today he got a grade 5 which seemed impossible before Harry's tutor sessions. Thankyou very much Harry, our family is extremely grateful for your particular teaching skills and supporting our son to success.

Brilliant English tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
We're aiming for a top grade in English GCSE to help with applications to schools like Graveney. Can a tutor help?
Absolutely. Many of our English tutors are specialists in preparing students for competitive school entrance and achieving the top GCSE grades of 8 and 9. They can focus on developing the sophisticated analytical and writing skills examiners are looking for, giving your child the best possible chance of success.
My child wants to study competitive A-Levels. How can a tutor support this goal?
A strong English GCSE is often a prerequisite for sought-after A-Level subjects. A tutor can help your child master the curriculum, refine their exam technique, and build the confidence needed to secure the high grades that will open doors to their chosen A-Level path and, eventually, top universities.
How do I choose the right English tutor for my child?
You can browse tutor profiles to see their experience, qualifications, and read reviews from other parents. Many tutors offer a short introductory chat to see if they are a good fit before you book a lesson. It's all about finding someone your child connects with.
What if my child doesn't click with their first tutor?
We know how important the right fit is. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How much does an online English tutor in Clapham cost?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and level of study. You can see each tutor's hourly rate clearly on their profile, allowing you to find an expert who fits your budget. There are no hidden fees or contracts.
How do online lessons actually work?
Our online classroom has everything your child needs for a great lesson, including a video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and a way to share documents. It's a simple and effective way for your child to learn one-to-one with their tutor from the comfort of your home.
Is online tutoring safe for my child?
Your child's safety is our top priority. All of our tutors are background-checked and have been through a rigorous application process. We only accept 1 in 8 tutors who apply, so you can be sure your child is in safe, expert hands.
How can a tutor help my child if they've lost confidence in English?
One-to-one tutoring is fantastic for building confidence. In a supportive, private setting, your child can ask questions they might be afraid to ask in class. Tutors celebrate small wins and break down tricky topics, helping your child feel capable and motivated again.
How long will it take to see an improvement in my child's grades?
Every child learns at their own pace, but our experience shows that consistent, personalised support makes a big difference. In fact, 90% of students who use Tutorful improve by at least one grade. Many parents tell us they see a boost in their child's confidence after just a few sessions.
Do you only offer academic subjects, or can my child learn something different like coding or music?
We offer tutoring in over 300 subjects! Beyond core academics, your child can learn practical skills like coding, a new language, or even how to play the guitar. It's a great way to support their hobbies and personal development as well as their schoolwork.
