Leigh H
Leigh worked with our teenage son to prepare for his English Language iGCSE. With only a short time before the exam, they quickly developed a constructive rapport. Leigh was quickly able to assess where our son ‘was at’ in terms of his readiness for that exam. Over just a few sessions, analysis and writing skills were imparted and developed that meant our son felt prepared. Moreover, our son so enjoyed the way Leigh worked and his obvious passion for and skills in language analysis, that he chose to continue language analysis sessions just for the fun of it once the exam was over. A comment our son has made more than once after a session is, ‘I just love learning!’ The exam was passed really well – the outcome we hoped would be possible – but more significantly, we are grateful for Leigh’s ability to really draw out and develop our son’s enjoyment of the English language.

Ihsanur R
Last Year I did not do well in English Language in which I had a Grade 3. With my November resits fast approaching I felt very privileged to have Ihsanur as my tutor. He was able to present lessons in a concise way which helped me understand what went well and what I needed to improve on.
After the November resits I managed to obtain a Grade 4 in English Language AQA. I would really recommend him for those taking the GCSE 2026 because he is committed and dedicated in order to achieve academic potential with pupils. Thanks again Ihsanur for the hard work you do.

Flora I
Flora has been helping Isla prepare for her English Literature and English Language GCSE exams. From the first lesson, Flora “clicked” with Isla and quickly understood her needs. She made Isla feel comfortable and pinpointed areas for development and was so supportive. Isla felt at ease and could ask questions knowing that the necessary time would be taken to help her understand. Flora was incredibly accommodating, adjusting lesson times and dates as needed. She was also very responsive to messages and promptly returned marked work, going above and beyond to support us. Isla’s work was annotated and marked, providing valuable feedback and areas for future focus, which has been invaluable. Flora’s passion for the subject shone through, thank you so much Flora!

Are your tutors familiar with the curriculum used in Kent schools?
Yes, many of our tutors have extensive experience with the national curriculum as taught in schools across Kent and the rest of the UK. When you search, you can view tutor profiles which often detail their experience with specific exam boards (like AQA and Edexcel) and key stages, helping you find the perfect match for your child's needs.
How can online tutoring help my child prepare for the Kent Test?
While we specialise in curriculum subjects, many of our English tutors are brilliant at building the core verbal reasoning and comprehension skills essential for the 11+ and the Kent Test. They can create a supportive process, working on everything from vocabulary to textual analysis, which builds a strong foundation for these assessments.
Is online tutoring as personal and effective as meeting a tutor face-to-face?
We believe it is, and often more so! Online lessons are incredibly focused, with interactive tools like whiteboards making learning collaborative and engaging. Crucially, it gives your child in Maidstone access to a far wider pool of specialist tutors from across the UK, ensuring you find the perfect personality and teaching style, not just whoever is closest.
What happens if the first tutor we try isn't the right partner for my child?
Finding the right connection is the most important part of the process. That's why we have a first lesson guarantee. If you feel the first tutor isn't the perfect fit, just email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover the cost of your first session with a new tutor.
My child enjoys creative writing but finds analytical essays hard. Can we find a specialist?
Absolutely. Many of our English Language tutors have different specialisms. You can find tutors who are passionate about creative writing and can inspire that flair, whilst others are experts at breaking down the logical process of structuring a perfect analytical essay. You can read their detailed profiles to find someone who excels in the area your child needs most.
How are your English Language tutors selected?
We're very selective because we know how much trust you're placing in us. We accept just 1 in 8 tutors who apply. Every tutor is background-checked, interviewed by a member of our team, and chosen for their subject expertise and their passion for teaching.
What technology does my child need for their online lessons?
It's very straightforward. All your child needs is a laptop or computer with a webcam, a microphone, and a stable internet connection. Our online classroom is browser-based, so there's no complicated software to download. It’s designed to be as simple as possible.
How much do online English Language lessons for a student in Maidstone cost?
Our tutors set their own hourly rates, typically starting from around £25 per hour. Prices vary based on the tutor's experience and level of demand. You can easily filter by price when you search to find a fantastic tutor who fits your family's budget.
Can we schedule lessons to fit around school and club commitments in Maidstone?
Yes, flexibility is one of the biggest benefits. Our tutors manage their own schedules, and you'll find availability for evenings, weekends, and school holidays. You can arrange lesson times that work for your family, without worrying about travel or traffic.
How quickly will we see a change in my child's confidence?
Every child's journey is unique, but many parents tell us they see a difference very quickly. Often, the first change isn't just in their work, but in their attitude towards the subject. Having a supportive partner who is 100% focused on them can make them feel more capable and positive almost immediately.
Does Tutorful offer subjects other than English Language?
We do! We have expert tutors across more than 300 subjects. From Maths and Science for GCSEs to learning a musical instrument, coding, or even public speaking, we can connect your family in Maidstone with specialist online tutors for almost any goal.
Can a tutor help with specific GCSE or A-Level exam boards?
Definitely. Our tutors are very familiar with the nuances of different exam boards like AQA, Edexcel, and OCR. They can focus on the specific assessment objectives, text choices, and question styles your child will face, making their revision incredibly targeted and effective.
