Mamun A
My son is really improving since starting lessons with Mamun. From the start of the lesson getting almost all questions wrong to by the end completely understanding it all. Tested him a few days later and he got almost every question right without any help at all he remembered all the punctuation in all questions, shocked how much he's improved from just one lesson on it! Mamun's teaching is brilliant and it really seems to stick in my sons head. Also my son is very fussy with his ASD/ADHD and is often open about his feelings towards people, especially new people most often than not he will say he doesn't like this person because of this or that, but he said he likes his tutor and wants to do more lessons which is brilliant. Mamun is always on time, very patient and explains thoroughly, he gives brilliant feedback afterwards too. Highly recommend this tutor and I'm glad I chose him rather than someone else.

Nadiah is an AMAZING English tutor.
Nadiah is very reliable, organised and efficient, prompting and guiding my son to keep on track outside of sessions aswell. I have had feedback from school after just a few months that the quality of my sons writing has improved significantly and teachers have asked if he has been doing anything different.
My son is also developing more of an interest in the subject which has been really nice to see.

After the first lesson my son announced “That was amazing Mum, you need to watch the video, he was SUCH a good teacher”. This couldn’t have been more different to previous feedback on our attempts to find an English tutor. I’m delighted that Jeremy is structured in his lessons, but also his tone is very friendly and fun! My 12 year old son has Tourettes and ADHD, and has been quite unwell. It’s also done wonders for my mental health knowing Jeremy is guiding my son through English, after seeing the videos I do not have this skill! 100% recommend him!

Wonderful English Tutor!
Michelle has been an incredible English tutor for our daughter Sarah. She always starts each session with a fun “mind boggle,” which Sarah absolutely loves — it sets such a positive and energising tone for the lesson. From the moment she enters the class, Michelle makes Sarah smile.
Her lessons are interesting, engaging, and thoughtfully planned. Michelle brings a fantastic mix of humour, enthusiasm, and kindness to every session, and it truly shows in Sarah’s enjoyment and progress. She has a wonderful teaching style that keeps Sarah motivated and excited to learn.
We are so grateful for Michelle’s support and highly recommend her to anyone looking for an English tutor who can make learning both effective and fun.
Thank you Michelle.

Brilliant English tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
We're aiming for a place at Gravesend Grammar School. Can a tutor help with the Kent Test?
Absolutely. Many of our English tutors have specific experience helping children prepare for the 11+ and the Kent Test. They understand the format of the exam, from comprehension to creative writing, and can help your child build the skills and techniques needed to feel confident and prepared on the day.
My child finds English comprehension difficult. Can a tutor help them prepare for the specific style of the 11+?
Yes, this is a very common area where a tutor can help. One-to-one support allows the tutor to focus specifically on the types of texts and questions your child will face in the 11+ exam. They can work through practice papers, teach strategies for understanding complex passages, and help your child learn how to structure their answers effectively.
How do I choose the right English tutor for my child?
You can read detailed profiles for each tutor, which include their experience, qualifications, and reviews from other parents just like you. Many tutors also have an introductory video to help you get a sense of their personality. You can message them before booking to discuss your child's specific needs.
What if my child doesn't click with their first English tutor?
Finding the right personality match is really important. That’s why we have our First Lesson Guarantee. If for any reason you feel the first tutor isn't the perfect fit, just email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover the cost of your first session with a new tutor.
How can I be sure the tutors are safe?
Your child's safety is our top priority. Every single tutor is background-checked and has their ID verified. We also interview them to ensure they have the right experience and a passion for teaching. We're very selective – only 1 in 8 tutors who apply are accepted onto our platform.
How much does an online English tutor in Gravesend cost?
Our tutors set their own hourly rates, which typically range from £25 to £45, depending on their experience and level of expertise. You can see the price clearly on each tutor's profile, so you can find someone who fits your budget. There are no hidden fees.
How do online lessons work?
They take place in our purpose-built online classroom, which includes a video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and a space to share documents. It’s easy to use and means your child can learn from the comfort of home, with all their lesson materials saved in one place.
How often should my child have a lesson?
Most families find that one hour-long session per week is a great starting point, especially when preparing for an exam like the Kent Test. However, it's completely flexible. You can discuss what works best for your child and your family's schedule directly with your chosen tutor.
Can tutoring help my child if they've lost their confidence in English?
Definitely. In fact, building confidence is one of the biggest benefits of one-to-one tutoring. A great tutor creates a safe, supportive space where your child feels comfortable asking questions and making mistakes without fear of judgement. This personalised encouragement can make a huge difference to their self-belief.
Is tutoring only for school subjects like English, or can my child learn other skills?
It’s for so much more! While we have expert tutors for core subjects from the 11+ and GCSEs to A-Levels, we also have tutors for music, languages, coding, and even hobbies like chess or art. It's all about helping your child explore their interests and build new skills.
What happens in a typical English tutoring session?
Every session is tailored to your child's needs. It might start with a quick chat about what they've been doing in school that week. Then, they might work through a specific challenge, like analysing a poem, planning an essay, or tackling some tricky grammar exercises on the interactive whiteboard. The focus is always on your child's goals.
How do I track my child's progress?
Your tutor will provide regular feedback on how your child is getting on. You can also message your tutor at any time to ask questions or discuss their progress. Many parents find this open communication really reassuring and helpful for supporting their child at home.
