I firmly believe that teaching is a two-way process. Whether I'm in a classroom or online, I will create a dialogue so the pupils/tutees feel involved in the process and are able to question, inquire and verbalise what we are learning. Very few people learn by being told something once, so my tutoring sessions are generally about discovery, mastery and learning side by side to answer the big questions along with my years of expertise providing the content.I have worked in education for 12 years in all sorts of settings, with a huge range of pupils. My track record is impressive and I firmly believe...

Mamun A
My son is really improving since starting lessons with Mamun. From the start of the lesson getting almost all questions wrong to by the end completely understanding it all. Tested him a few days later and he got almost every question right without any help at all he remembered all the punctuation in all questions, shocked how much he's improved from just one lesson on it! Mamun's teaching is brilliant and it really seems to stick in my sons head. Also my son is very fussy with his ASD/ADHD and is often open about his feelings towards people, especially new people most often than not he will say he doesn't like this person because of this or that, but he said he likes his tutor and wants to do more lessons which is brilliant. Mamun is always on time, very patient and explains thoroughly, he gives brilliant feedback afterwards too. Highly recommend this tutor and I'm glad I chose him rather than someone else.

Brilliant English tutors who you’ll really click with.
Our experienced tutors take the time to understand where each student needs to focus and their preferred way of learning. They make a measurable difference – 90% of all students improve by at least one grade.
My child is preparing for the Kent Test to get into a Canterbury grammar school. Can a tutor help with that?
Absolutely. Many of our English tutors have specific experience helping students prepare for 11+ and entrance exams like the Kent Test. They can focus on key areas like comprehension, creative writing, and exam technique to help your child feel confident and prepared for the day.
We're aiming for a top grade in GCSE English to meet the entry requirements for schools like Simon Langton. Is that something a tutor can help with?
Yes, that's a very common goal for parents. Our tutors are brilliant at helping students aim high for their GCSEs. They can create a tailored plan to cover the curriculum, revise key texts, and perfect exam strategies. In fact, we can help improve your child's GCSE results by up to 2 grades.
How do I choose the right English tutor for my child?
You can read detailed tutor profiles, watch introductory videos, and check reviews from other parents. You can also message tutors beforehand to discuss your child's needs and make sure they're a great fit before booking a lesson.
What if my child doesn't click with their first tutor?
It's really important that your child feels comfortable with their tutor. That's why we have our first lesson guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor.
How much does an English tutor in Canterbury cost?
Prices vary depending on the tutor's experience and qualifications. You can see each tutor's hourly rate clearly on their profile. There are no hidden fees or contracts, so you have complete control.
How do online lessons actually work?
Our online classroom has everything your child needs for a great lesson, including a video chat, an interactive whiteboard, and a way to share documents. It's a simple, secure, and effective way for your child to learn from home.
How can a tutor help my child build confidence in English?
One-to-one attention from a supportive tutor can do wonders for confidence. When a child has a safe space to ask questions and work at their own pace without fear of getting it wrong, they start to believe in their own abilities.
Are all the tutors background-checked?
Yes, your child's safety is our top priority. All our tutors are background-checked, and we interview every applicant to ensure they are not only knowledgeable but also passionate about teaching. We only accept 1 in every 8 tutors who apply.
My child finds Shakespeare really difficult. Can a tutor help with that?
Definitely. Tackling complex texts like 'Romeo and Juliet' or 'Macbeth' is a common reason parents seek a tutor. A specialist can break down the language, explore themes, and help your child analyse quotes in a way that makes sense to them.
Is tutoring just for core school subjects, or can my child learn other skills?
While we have fantastic tutors for academic subjects like English, Maths and Science, we also offer support in a huge range of other areas! From learning to play the guitar or piano to getting started with coding or a new language, we believe in changing lives through learning, whatever the subject.
How long is a typical tutoring session?
Most sessions are one hour long, which is usually the perfect amount of time to dive into a topic without your child losing focus. However, you can discuss different lesson lengths with your chosen tutor.
How do I know if my child is making progress?
Your tutor will provide regular feedback on your child's progress. You can also message them at any time to discuss how things are going. The goal is to work together to help your child achieve their learning goals.
