I've been Drumming for 15+ years and Teaching privately for 6+ years. My aim is to pass on my practical knowledge to those who have an interest in learning the Drums or for those who want to top up their existing knowledge and experience.I am entirely self taught and have learnt my craft from analysing my technique whilst playing and practicing and adapting it where I found inconsistencies, I used online videos and tutorials as well to aid me in this.I will start by gaining a knowledge of the students understanding of Drumming both as an instrument and of it's place within music, the role of a drummer....
Mariel is a good and patient teacher. She explains things well and the lessons run at the students pace. I progressed quickly as we worked on both grade pieces and drum rudimentals/technical exercises.
When I had technical difficulties during a lesson, Mariel was patient and worked around the issue. Mariel was very helpful and we covered a lot of content in a few weeks.
I highly recommend Mariel as a drum teacher to new students.

How can online drum tutoring help my child stand out for university applications in Cambridge?
Online drum tutoring can help your child achieve recognised graded music exams, which often carry UCAS points. This demonstrates commitment, discipline, and a well-rounded skill set that complements academic achievements, making their university application profile more competitive, especially for institutions like the University of Cambridge or Hills Road Sixth Form College.
Can a drum tutor help my child balance their musical passion with intense academic study for GCSEs and A-Levels?
Absolutely. A one-to-one online drum tutor can work flexibly around your child's academic schedule, ensuring their musical development doesn't compromise their school studies. They'll help your child stay organised, motivated, and make efficient progress in their drumming, allowing them to excel in both areas.
Is online drum tutoring only for academic goals, or can my child also learn for fun and personal development?
Tutorful offers tutoring for a wide range of goals! Whether your child wants to master complex rhythms for graded exams, learn their favourite songs, or simply explore the joy of drumming as a hobby, our tutors can tailor lessons to their specific interests and pace. It's all about fostering a love for learning and music.
What if my child doesn't get along with their first drum tutor?
We offer a First Lesson Guarantee. If you don't get on with your tutor, email our support team at support@tutorful.co.uk and we will cover your first session with a new tutor. We want to make sure your child finds the perfect match.
How do I choose the best online drum tutor for my child?
You can browse our list of experienced online drum tutors, read their profiles, and see reviews from other parents. We encourage you to message a few tutors to discuss your child's specific goals and what you're looking for. This helps ensure you find a tutor whose teaching style and experience align perfectly with your child's needs.
How much does online drum tutoring cost?
Tutor rates vary depending on their experience and qualifications, but you'll find a range of prices on our platform. You can filter tutors by their hourly rate, allowing you to find a high-quality online drum tutor that fits your budget. There are no hidden fees, and you only pay for the lessons your child takes.
How does online tutoring actually work for drum?
Online drum lessons take place in our interactive virtual classroom. Tutors use features like screen sharing, a digital whiteboard, and even shared music notation software to provide a dynamic and engaging learning experience. Your child just needs a computer with a webcam and microphone, and their drum kit, of course!
Can online drum tutoring help my child build confidence?
Absolutely. One-to-one attention from a supportive tutor creates a safe space for your child to experiment, make mistakes, and celebrate successes. This personalised encouragement, combined with mastering new skills and performing pieces, can significantly boost their self-esteem and confidence, both musically and in other areas of life.
Are the online drum tutors qualified and safe for my child?
Yes, we take tutor vetting very seriously. We carefully select only the best, background-checked tutors from across the UK – only 1 in 8 applicants are accepted. You can view each tutor's qualifications and experience on their profile, giving you peace of mind.
What kind of drum can my child learn with an online tutor?
Our tutors can teach a wide variety of drumming styles and instruments, whether your child plays acoustic drums, electronic drums, or even percussion instruments. They can cover genres from rock and jazz to classical and world music, adapting to your child's interests and available equipment.
How quickly can my child start their online drum lessons?
Once you've found a tutor you like, you can often book an introductory chat or their first lesson very quickly. Many of our tutors have availability within a few days, so your child can start their online drum journey almost straight away.
